Makes a change to see 'Byzantine' re-enactment of this period and not the usual Roman stuff!

I think from the shield and helmet designs on the infantry, it looks more 9th - 11th century. But my knowledge of the period is not good, to be honest. Any opinions?

Yes, it is the periode between the 8th/9th and 11th century. But the fighting style comes very close to the descriptions of the Strategikon.
