House Frey will be in the 1.0 release, but not the Boltons.
Although I believe if the Stark family tree is wiped out, then another Northern house will take over, so the Boltons could control the north.

In fact the Boltons will take over the faction when house stark is wiped out. This is done in the following way:

-Characters can have family trees, but only the main one can be seen.
    -Authority determines the next heir.
-Each house has a certain amount of authority associated with their bloodline. Traits and ancillaries that grant authority are pretty rare and sometimes restricted to the ruling family.
-If a major house is wiped out the retainer with the highest authority will take over- In the case of house stark it would be house Bolton.

And if House Bolton is killed ? Is there a file where we can see the authority of all the Houses ?

If Bolton takes over, won't the units still be labeled as "Stark army", and the sigil still the Direwolf? Unless units are labeled on the Stratmap according to the home regions of the controlling faction, ie "Northern army" "Stormland city"

Unfortunately this cannot be avoided - game limitation

We could change the banner\names according to the current family tree, but this would cost one faction slot per family, and since each faction has at least 5 hidden trees, this is not possible.

The strat-modesl should be the ones previewed, while the battle-model for faction leader\heir can be changed via script.

Beta? We don`t even have a beta, just an alpha. And it`s old. Very old. Expect vanilla units and not too many scripts.

    Default A little question

Because i lokked of the backstory of this mod and read a bit about what the whole story is about i think this mod will be quiet awsome!
But my question is: Is it in todays level of development worth to play?

If you haven`t read the books? No, it isn`t. Even reading up the history of the mod might have spoiled the best book series ever written somewhat for you. I highly recommend it.

    your sig is distracting

I second this. There should be a sign somewhere with DON'T PLAY THIS MOD WITHOUT READING THE BOOKS OR WATCHING THE SERIES, YOU RISK BEING SPOILED OF ONE OF THE BEST FANTASY STORIES EVER.

    Default Back at it

So I just watched Episode Three of A Game of Thrones, and found myself reinstalling MTW2 and reading the guides to install this on Steam immediately after. I want to give a huge thank you to the creators and all who helped produce this gem. I looked up any games based on 'A Song of Ice and Fire' and was sorely disapointed. Then I remember playing a few campaigns of Westeros: Total War last year and knew this would scratch
    my itch.

Havent been on these forums for awhile so...
I've found the submod folder, and it looks theres alot of great work in there too. Any suggestions ?

On a unrelated note, I used to be a big fan of True-Blood. Used to be, because the plot and writing went started turning sour then just went to hell after this last season. I have a sneaking supicion all the writers left for A Game of Thrones.

If you haven't already, make sure you're using the enhanced version submod. Has some nice changed to hold you over til the release on 1.0.

You are a fan of the show, so in addition to the enhanced submod, I suggest this submod: imagery of game of thrones

The war of the usurper and king of rivers and hills submods are not released yet.

And of course....Steam versions launcher 'can not connect'. Figures. I know it's not the mods fault, that was a vanilla installation. I bought the steam version after the D2D version because if the game folder got corrupted, a clean installation without errors on reinstalling sometimes required manually removing the registry entries with regedit. I really hate sega or valve, or whoevers fault made it such a pain to install.

@Dux I read that the relase of your mod will be after 1.0 is released. If you don't mind me asking have y'all come out with approximate timeframe or are there still too many variables floating around?

Edit: Okay so MTW2K Launcher no longer has an internet connection = Only MTW2 playable. Not the only one whos had this problem.
    So I found this http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2500705
After using the kingdoms launcher app, the launcher detects and once again a modder has done CA's/Valve/Steam/Sega's job for them.

the "King of Rivers and Hills" will come out at the end of this month (say last weekend of April 28 -29)

the "War of the Usurper" is already being revamped/completed but there's no estimation as we're still discussing/planning on the various directions..
since it's the same team, we're most probably focus on that after the first submod gets released

in any case we'd be much obliged for any helpful hand especially a modeller!

so whoever's interested please contact Dux

Got it working? I had some Launcher problems with Steam as well but it works now.

Like the others said, the enhanced submod version is a must! and the HBO imagery mod and Lannister re-skin are worth the downloads as well.

The Alpha release is actually pretty impressive with all these Mod's included.

In the Usurper mod we need:
Primarily modelling (creating new units) and scripters.

Have to keep this short as i've got class....
Played for 30 turns as the starks w/ the enhanced mod and loved it. The attention to detail is very impressive. This is still a diamond in the rough, but the amount of research and effort into recreating a world is only surpassed by TATW.
I'll write a better impression later. It desrves alot of praise, but If I could snap my fingers id like to see the following

    • Major battles should be few and far between.
    • I've always wanted to see a mod that would make diplomacy, not war, the most important aspect of the game. I could name a million ideas, but if it could be possible a Diplomacy system that was entirely scripted events would be great. I really think WTW could capture the cloak and dagger feel of A game of thrones.
    • Overhaul the faction system, making vassalage the most important aspect. For example the Stark family is one family, who rules over lesser houses. the entire north. Declaring war as well as the diplomacy system would be amazing if say....when a major faction is at war with another, said faction would have to politic, bully, and bribe his vassals to do what they want.
    • To that end....instead of focusing on the entire continent, maybe specific campaigns could be made, focusing on specific parts of westeros.
    • All of these suggestions are incredibly simple, so if you could have them done by the time I get back from class that would be great
I don't know if anyone has seen or played Game of Thrones Genesis.
MTW2k is a dinosaur. WTW blows it out of the water, bad. I wish you guys had a tip jar.

I made a mini mod for Empire, and dabbled in editing files for Shogun. Which isn't like the code used at all for MTW2K. Im guessing it's a bunch of script editing? Im a basic user in Visual Basic...don't know if thats relevant to anything you need done but if it is id like to contribute.
