hi there again i was able to play multiplayer by simply installing RS2 and then installing the new launcher which was quite convenient. i did not install the the 2.1a patch though or the mp fix. does it matter if i didnt, do i lose out on something?

No, the 2.1a update doesnt have any effect on MP at all.
