How would YOU like the backpacks to be done?
Right, the question is simple, there are too ways we can add backpacks into the game. Both will have an on/off option, but they are very different. Which one do you want?
Option 1: Having a single generic backpack for all units that need them (same for all factions)
Since backpacks can be added as an equipment object, this would mean that a huge amount of space would be saved, making the end download smaller than it would otherwise be, and so a lot easier for you lot. It would also enable backpacks and the British headgear options (either bonnets/shakos/bearskins or pith helmets) to be seperate options, which is impossible under option 2. There is a con however-though the new backpack would be far superior to the exsting generic one, it would still very much be generic, since all factions would have to share it. Obviously this adversely affects historical accuracy.
Option 2: Having a unique backpack built into every unit that needs one
Obviously, this is one heck of a lot more realistic than option 1, as the equipment on the pack can be more representative of the faction, much more detailed, and would give much more variety to the equipment the soldiers carry (of course there will be a huge amount of that anyway). The problem is that this would mean that for an option we would require a whole new model, as the game can only have a single variety of backpack that can be attached as equipment. As such, the number of models would increase a huge amount, and the mod would be a lot larger.
