Default Mod Help - Matchlock Historical Development

Hey I am asking here if anyone has any information whatsoever books hopefully that focus primarily upon the "tanegashima". From its early acquisition, to its copying and improvement, to its mass-manufacturing in Japanese fiefdoms.

This is possibly the only area I am having actual trouble in finding info upon than say Ninjas, which, there's a bit from Osprey.

    Thanks.
My Shogun 2 Mod has been defunct for years, its over with. Hex editing is horrible.

Three good books on the subject of Samurai firearms.>

    THE JAPANESE MATCHLOCK Shigeo Sugawa
in English, color printing, 60 pages: $100- A lot of good pictures, I just got a signed copy direct from the author.
    http://www.japaneseweapons.net/sonota/hon/english.htm

And another one is >Tanegashima-The Arrival of Europe in Japan [Paperback]
Olof G. Lidin (Author), I found a used paperback copy of this book for around $30 used. No pictures, just a lot of detailed history on the arrival of firearms in Japan. http://www.amazon.com/Tanegashima-Ar...mm_pap_title_0

Along with> Giving Up the Gun: Japan's Reversion to the Sword, 1543-1879 [Paperback] Noel Perrin http://www.amazon.com/Giving-Up-Gun-.../dp/0879237732
Which you can buy for around $10

These three books are enough to make you an expert on the subject:thumup:
I wrote this up for another forum, I have since found another book, it is rather expensive and hard to find but these 4 books are all that you will find in English with detailed information. Sugawa's book has detailed pictures of tanegashima and related accoutrements including the breakdowns and names for the various parts. Perrin's and Lidin's books are affordable and contain a lot of good information on the arrival and development of Tanegashima in Japan. The forth book is less about the gun itself than about how it came to be introduced to Japan by the Portuguese. "The Bewitched Gun - the introduction of the firearm in the Far East by the Portuguese", Rainer Daehnhardt, Texto Editora (1994), No ISBN number, It is bi-lingual, being both in Portuguese and English laid out in side-by-side columns.

Here is a short article on the nihonto forum I did on a Tanegashima I accquired, I show the related parts and how to disassemble.

I have included as search link for the same forum, there is more Tanegashima information on this forum then any other place in the world that I know if, many experts on the subject post there including Ian Bottomly.
