How to remove units from savegames

I know my way well around ETW/NTW esfeditor, but i've only just downloaded this one. ~~Could someone please tell me how to go about deleting the entries for certain units in armies in the savegames.~~
I've tried just deleting the unit's entry, but then I get a crash. I didn't delete any characters cus thats more complicated, but say I wanted to make a full stack army into a half stack army, usually I could just go delete a unit from that army_array.
any ideas?

scrap all that. It seems anything I do renders the save file corrupt

esf 1.4.8.0 isn't saving files properly

open your savegames then open campaign_env ---> world ---> Faction Array ---> Faction (select faction as you want) ---> Army Array
then you can see your Army's infomation
Select one Army as you want Right-Click delete

Yes thankyou... but I did clearly say I knew how to do that. My issue is it crashes when I save
I'd change topic name if I could

Oh yes My issue same to you.
I think change topic name by the ESF is not allowed. So the only way is backup your savegames and select the save not the save as...

EDIT: did not work
