You know how in Medieval 2 destroying a Catholic country was as simple as taking over the Papacy and College? Who's going to argue with your aggression when you have the seat of Gods power on your side.

Okay, maybe it wasn't that simple. It was a lot of work to play that way and you had to fight to keep it. But my focus is excommunication.

If anyone goes to war with the Shogunate it would be nice to be able to attack them with impunity. No increase in fame (read:hatred) from the Shogun, no diplomacy hit from other clans not at war with the Shogun.

Anyway, I like this idea, especially since Realm Divide is half the game for a player but attacking the Shogunate for an AI controlled clan is no more meaningful than attacking Oda.

Has anyone else thought about this?
