Hey guys, my name is Favorlock and I am new to the forums. I've played total war games since the release of Medieval: Total War. So to start my adventure off in the forums I have brought those who have purchased Medieval 2: Total War Kingdoms through Steam a little present. I noticed that many people were struggling to find a way to use the Custom Campaign Maps v.2 Mod with their Steam bought Kingdoms game so I decided to do a little digging and within half an hour I found a solution.
Step 1: Creating a folder that the CCM2 Installer will detect.
I - To begin, navigate to "C:\Program Files" (32-bit Systems) or "C:\Program Files (x86)" (64-bit Systems)
II: In your Program Files folder, create a folder called "SEGA" then create another folder within the SEGA folder called "Medieval II Total War".
Congratulations, you've created the directory that the installer will detect.
Step 2: Copying Files.
I - Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\medieval ii total war\" or to the location you have installed Steam.
II - Right click on kingdoms.exe and select copy.
III - Now navigate back to you M2TW folder inside the SEGA folder and right click and paste the kingdoms.exe into your M2TW folder.
Step 3: Run the CCM2 Installer
I - Follow the Installer Instructions. I suggest that you install everything to "SEGA\Medieval II - Custom Campaign Mod 2".
II - Once installed navigate to "SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods". You should now see a folder called "custom_campaign_2", right-click and copy the folder.
III - Paste the folder into your "Steam\SteamApps\common\medieval ii total war\mods" folder.
Step 4: Editing the registry.
Now comes the hard part, editing the registry. You will need administrator access to access the registry. WARNING! You must be very careful while editing the registry, make a mistake and you could possibly ruin your windows install.
I - So first of all click on start and in the search bar type run and click on the run application. When the run tool opens, type "regedit". Windows will ask you to confirm that you are an administrator to gain access.
II - Press "Ctrl-F" to bring the find box up. For "find what" type "0000CustomCampaignMod2_is1" and press enter. It will then begin searching for that particular key. If this does not bring anything up, try "custom campaign" instead of "0000CustomCampaignMod2_is1". If it does happen to bring up the folder you should see something along the lines of:
(Default) Reg_SZ (value not set)
DisplayName Reg_SZ Medieval II - Custom Campaign Mod 2
Inno Setup: App Path Reg_SZ C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\custom_campaign_2
and etc...
The only things you need to change are:
Inno Setup: App Path
InstallLocation
QuietUninstallString
UninstallString
If you right click on the name of each of these you can click on "modify". Don't click on "modify binary". Only click on "Modify".
The changes should be as follows:
Inno Setup: App Path
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\custom_campaign_2
InstallLocation
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\custom_campaign_2
QuietUnistallString
(With Quotes) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\custom_campaign_2\unins000.exe" /Silent
UninstallString
(With Quotes) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\custom_campaign_2\unins000.exe"
Congratulations, you have completed the same process that I have.
Please give feedback and help get this topic pinned.
I happened to have the disc version on hand as well and installed that after I had installed steam, but it shouldn't make a difference if you don't have the disc version installed as to whether the CCM2 Installer detects the kingdoms.exe. Just remember, you must put the kingdoms.exe in "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War" Otherwise I can't gurantee that it will work.
Cheers Folks,
Favorlock
