    Default Latin names

    Hello everybody!

I need to know the latin name of the Atlantic Ocean in the roman era. I googled for it but haven´t found a definite answer. I already found the name of the north sea: "mare germanicum". Is that correct?

    Thanks in advance!

I have seen some texts with "mare sarmatorum" or something like, for the sea between norway and pommerania, for the noàrth, i think it's correct, for the atlantic.. dont know.. never hear anything without " gauls' coasts'..

The Romans called the sea on the East cost of Britain Mare Brittanicus and the western part Mare Hibernicus and the North sea area Mare Germanicus.

    Cheers.
