Borat unfortunately has done serious damage to Romania's public image. Ironically, it caused more damage to Romania's public image than to Kazakhstan's public image.

But now you know how Romania looks like.

No, but we do this wonderful dance instead.

It's caled Calusul, and the dancers Calusari, which more or less means Horse Dancers.

And this is a typical Hora...

That's just a collection of pics, I'm trying to find a video with a real Hora dance.

These are a series of folk dances from Transylvania (central Romania), called "fecioreasca", danced initially only by unmarried youngsters. The best part is toward the end (at about 1:25), when the music stops.

For adrenaline and thrilling sensations lovers

Bungee jumping from Vidraru Dam (166 m high, second place in Europe after a Swiss Dam, one used in that James Bond movie i think). The place is actualy close to Vlad Tepes Dracula residence at Poienari Fortress, in a very cool area

This is the third place in Europe, Rasnoavei Gorges (just 140 meters high), another very cool and spectacular area

A so called "tiroliana" (traversation from one crest to another over the precipice attached to a rope/cable zip line) is available too on both locations

And for gourmands, Romania offers a variety of traditional foods and wines:

    Cozonac

    Traditionally Decorated Easter Eggs

    Sarmale (Cabbage roll)with mamliga (polenta)

And my favorite Sarmalute in foi de vita (Grapevines leaves rolls)

    Eggplant salads

    Soup in home baked bread

Vişinată and afinata (alcoholic beverage produced from sour cherries or blackberries)

Socată (soft drink made from the flowers of the European elder (or elderberry) shrub)

Tuica (traditional alcoholic beverage usually made from plums)

And a collection of excellent wines: Traditional: Tămâioasă Românească (my favorite); Fetească Regală, Grasă de Cotnari, Fetească Neagră, Frâncuşa, as well as international assortments: Merlot, Sauvignon blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel.

Why don't you give it a try?

Romanian cooking is a mixture of Balkan cuisine, European influence, some traditional recipes handed down from generations and original takes on well known dishes from the area. It's a mixture of great flavours, and if you manage to eat from a good cook, you will love it.

And I'm not saying that, I've had countless friends from Europe and America come over here and enjoy it.

Well I'm always willing to try a new cuisine, so if I ever go by Romania (and I intend to in the future), you can recommend me somewhere to eat!

And considering both nations have a strong bond in contributing to German wars, you'll find a lot to bond over. Perhaps some constructive posts in this thread would be better instead of your usual looking down on the East, IPA.

We are like angels compared to other Europeans (and Americans, but that's a no-brainer).

If I am looking for a cheapass beach holiday I'd pick Romania over Bulgaria and their stupid Sunny Beach.

    Should I pick Bulgaria?

I mean, the OP is quiet convincing and the only Bulgarian I met wore old men's shoes and was covered with black fur...

I'd appreciate if you would drop these childish superiority remarks.

    Should I pick Bulgaria?
It depends on what you're looking for in a vacation. Romania has mountains, beaches, flat land, lakes, almost every geographical feature you could think of that could make a great vacation.
