    Just in case anyone wants to visit Romania right now... don't.

    We are (in the south at least) covered in snow, and we are literally having a tough time with snow, really low temperatures and snowstorms. Just wait for a little while and then Visit Romania!

    My friends and I are going to Romania from the 17th-20th of this month and will be specifically in Bucharest and the areas around the city.

    Can you recommend any shooting ranges that would be reasonably priced? We will of course be going to a lot of historical sites etc (it's not a bachelor party or anything ), but I quite enjoy shooting and some of my friends have never done it before so I think it might be a fun activity.

    Assault rifles and handguns are essentially illegal in Ireland so there's very little outlet for this unless you want to do clay pigeon shooting and/or join a gun club, get a license and buy your own rifle/shotgun.

    This is the place I had in mind;

    http://www.bucharestshootingclub.com...nikov-friends/

    Would this be typical of the prices for the average shooting range?

    We'll be using Bucharest as a starting position/base and would like to go on day trips to various places nearby. Do you have any particular recommendations?

    Rep for any that help!

    From Bucharest you can easily do day trips to places like Brasov, Sinaia, Bran. I managed to do a day trip leaving at 7 am and went to Bran castle, Rasnov castle and Peles castle (sinaia). We had enough time to visit all 3 of them and get back by afternoon. Mind you this was in summer. In winter the roads are a lot crappier. If you are going to take a train than you can get to Sinaia in 2 or so hours, walk to Peles and walk around the resort. To get to Brasov it takes about 3 hrs so you could be stretching it.

    For the shooting range that seems very expensive (for a local) but not sure what other prices there are.

    I think at the moment the plan seems to be that we will spend the first day/night in Bucharest then go to Sibiu. It looks very pictoresque so we might spend two nights there and then a final night in Bucharest before heading home the following day.

    Just be extremely mindful of the cabs while in Bucharest. They will attempt to rip you off by taking you around the entire city even though your destination is actually 10 minutes away.

    Also if you're interested in medieval stuff, while in Sibiu you can go about 90 km north to Sighisoara to see one of the best preserved medieval towns in europe

    Keep in mind that shooting ranges in Bucharest are few and expensive, mainly due to the fact that Romania has the strictest gun laws in the whole of the European Union.

    It's not a popular place to go to - and if you're in it for the assault rifles, you're going to have a major disappointment because those are off limits at all times except in some cases as you outlined above.

    As for the rest - the boys outlined it to you.

    If you need specific tips, ask us, we're more than glad to help.

    Since we just had the Easter celebrations this past weekend, here's a little tidbit of Romanian tradition - painted eggs!
