Yes that would be nice, especially after all this time without even a beta. It might sound petty, but by announcing the mod and having (at least) two dedicated forums for it, the developers do have a responsibility to actually keep people, who are essentially their 'fans' at this point, informed.

And that's why a release date is important (and why everyone always asks for one). It not only goes a little way to assuring people that they aren't getting their hopes up for nothing, but also without one, any part-time, on/off, endeavour is vulnerable to procrastination as there's no target, no deadline by which those things that need to be done are finished. That's the only reason this has taken close to 3 years.

And sorry folks, but judging from the 'one Japanese building in a roman city' screenshots that have just been released, it still looks to be far from finished (even though they look fantastic).
