Those are some massive battle scenes. I think my comp would explode if I had that many men on screen.

Wrong it's 15,871. but I could be wrong so you'd better count them again... On second thoughts don't Midnite, because it will stop you working on any more unit textures for sometime to come

    Indeed awesome screens Diadok ,+rep
I can play with about 10000 men before it turns into a slide show but these figures are amazing and very immersive.

Too bad this captain Caratacus (coincedence? )

A few from my last battle with the Saxons south of the Thames. Having defeated the Anglii, I'm now concentrating my attention on the Saxons but not recieving much in the way of direct support from any other faction. Although in this battle the Saxons were shown in the pre- battle screen as having a better army, they were totally beaten here using my archers. They always come to a battle equipped with mostly axemen and very few if any archers and cavalry and end up as arrow fodder, silly Saxons.
In that last shot the guy with the black and white shield is my guy who wandered into the killing zone and actually speared a warrior lying on the ground, obviously a quirk of the animation but it seemed very realistic. Here the Saxons have been beaten and my frosty covered warriors gaze on, as the Saxon back lines get a well deserved warming up.

Hope it was that traitor Caratacus maybe

Today I fought one of the bloodiest and most devastating battles in the whole campaign to take the town of Folkstone from the Saxons. The Anglo Saxon called this place on the south coast Folcestane, although it would seem more appropriate written as Volkstane. Perhaps rename it Eanswythe, in honour of the saint whose name the church and nunnery were named and around which the town first developed.

Anyway...... I had besieged the town which was the last to hold out against my forces advances into the eastern territory of the Saxons and didn't feel the least perturbed when their forces sallied out to meet mine as I had often cut down superior forces with my powerful archers and this defending force seemed to consist mostly of spearmen rather than axe wielding warriors, as was often the case previously. However I wasn't prepared for the ferocity of these guys as they rushed forward en mass against my lines and a bloody battle ensued, which I came pretty close to losing totally. The Saxon spearman's charge seemed unstoppable and quickly cut my lines into ribbons and it was only when they reached my commander's position guarded by veterans that the battle was turned by a decisive cavalry charge. This commander was no novice when it came to battles and he had won for me numerous battles against the Anglii and ultimately the whole of Anglia. His charge accompanied by another commander was truly spectacular and despite being met with a hail of arrows from the Saxon archers the battle was won as the remnants of the enemy turned tail and ran back to the gates of Folkstone. Despite this victory, relief was the emotion rather than elation as the battlefield was left strewn with a multitude of dead warriors and although the town was taken, my greatest army had been completely decimated.

These are some sreeenshots of one of three battles I faught as Regnum Britanniae agains the Saxon-Jutes faction. I never taught that they where so hard to fight against, they dont yield until they are pretty much surrounded.

    Cheers.

Will there be any implementation of faction banners on the battlefield. I find it hard to keep track of my troops in the middle of heated battles.

other than that the battle are very good and i find that the best weapon against the barbarians are cavalry, lot of cavalry.
