Sure, the British fought in the Crimean. But apart from that, most of their wars then were colonial, and thus deeply asymetric. Where's the glory in butchering a few underdevelopped tribes and poorly modernized kingdoms from time to time ? Where's the "total war" ?
Things were different back in Roman times and in the Napoleonian era :
- Rome had some serious foes, within and without (Carthago, the Macedonians, the Ptolemaic kings, the Parths, ...) and it took her centuries to subdue them.
- In Napoleonian times, Europe was at war from Gibraltar to the Russian steppe. Peace was nowhere to be found (almost)
On the contrary, in the later 19th century, England mainly used diplomatic means to settle issues with other super powers.
In other words, "Victoria" should not be called Victoria. "Colonial" would be more appropriate. And honestly ? Do you imagine Queen Victoria on the cover of the next game ???? Wow ! So warlike !
