This is a historical game set. No fantasy total war or some jerky Avator-like game. I mean, NEIN, NEIN, NEIN!!!!!

We want one of these things:
1.Rome 2 total war, because of: Nice legions, the ambiance of the ancient Roman world. Clashing Swords!!! Daggers and blood....
2.Victoria total war, time spanning from 1853 (Crimea) to 1900 or whatsoever. These modern weaponry form S2TW FOTS is complementary to this time-table. So it is possible, BUT: A whole world map, including Civil war in the US and RUssian expansion to the east and Political aspects. Nationalism, liberalism, later on Communism. And the possibility of uniting Nations such as German empire and Italy. Of course S2TW FOTS should be implemented in this new version as a piece of whole. In this case the mainland of Japan on the world map just like any other country. Here they are, one piece of it is done!
    3. WW1 total war: A brilliant setting as this game would be a challenge to play. On the other hand there are many battle mechanics to be reworked. Trench-warfare, Tanks, early biplanes and grenade launcing Rifles and flamethrowers. We already have naval support, we should also implement in ww1 long range field arty support. Here, they already have done something, those guys of CA.

    4. ultimately, the most stupid thing to do, which they could but wouldn't dare!!!
    Medieval 3 Total War.
-Enough of those knights in shining armour.
-Fictional Kings and leaders, yuk!!! I like to have Edward I Longshanks to play with instead, than with some kind of Ralph JOnes Fatso,,,,
-There were in real life so many banners each army had, it would be difficult to implement!
-No way this could be historical correct, I do not like fantasy!!! I like to replay HISTORY!

I made my points. Peace be with you all on Victoria and ROme, But certainly not M3TW, apathy for that one sun shines.

    Have a good day, amen.

Cromwell total war. Nice one lad. But too small time-table. It is time to go big again. Shogun 2 wasnt big enough for me. We want more!

I like Cromwell total war as well anyhow. Those roundheads vs. Royalists. Nice battles with pikemen and musketeers and calivermen.

Modern armies, but CA wouldn't go here, this isn't a known periode to the world, rather for Britain personal. A dispute between the kings and his parliament.

    Cheers

As I see in the voting space. Rome 2 total war will be "da game" according to the fans. I think CA stands at crossroads what to do? Advance/stay or go backwards in time.

I am anxious to see what they will do! As everybody of you does as well!! Now, let us enjoy the many mods such as Roma 2 surrectum and fantasize about a nice remake of this Era!

We will see Crassus, Pompey and Caesar reborn again, on the fields and in the forrests, fighting the enemy of the republic. And charge home for personal glory, or death by treachery!

    Here are my thoughts.

World war 1 just wouldn't fit into a total war game, too static, not enough action.
World war 2 would be hard to do aswell and I don't see it happening any time soon.
    Future...definitely not.
    Fantasy...no way.
Prehistoric: not possible, not going to happen.
    Early American..., not sure.
Renaissance: it's possible and I would certainly play it.
US civil war, I would love that (even though I'm English!).
Medieval 3, would be great but I'd like to get the more medieval feel that I got from medieval 1(compared with M2TW).
Ancient Greece, would love it, with all the little warring states like in Shogun 2.
Victorian and African Colonisation, another thing I'd like to see.

The only bit of fantasy/legend I would want to see in a total war game would be in a Dark Ages: Total War. My idea is that you could play one of two campaigns, one being historical dark age europe, and the other being the world of King Arthur with his wars and conquests. If that happened I would be amazed and delighted in equal measure.

If CA is going to make a small scale game like Shogun i would like an Ancient Greece TW.
But if it's going to be a game with a global map then i would like Victoria TW.

    Exactly,

A whole world map. A Victoria total war is perfect to it. Think about all the weapon-development and such.
Fighting tribes in Africa (Zulu+Indians) with the British, last stands and such. This would be epic and total
action altogether. Do not forget the unification of Italy and Germany, the wars against Austria and France to reach these goals!

In this case the game should end somewhere in 1880 or 1890's as it has to start at the time of the restoration of Europe after Napoleonic wars (1820) -or- after (1830) whereas Belgium is included, Mexican Empire has its own ambition with Santa Ana to take Texas.

I love this, from 1830 to 1880, all the heights over warfare. From post-Napoleonic armies (1830) to modern
armies (1860-1900). This would be great.

Also naval transformations from wooden to iron ships and the changes in tactics.

Nevertheless I voted for Rome, I just love the ambiance of that time. Imagining Italy in summer period, nice landscapes, suddenly a whole organised legion coming up from the front, horns blowing...
Cohorts moving in disciplined formations, whistles of the centurions, preparing for battle. Noise of the stamping soldiers, moving steadily... And behind that legion a general, (with and eagle next to him) in bronze breastplate and helmet, directing his prefects...

A moment later.....two legions collide against each other. Hacking and slashing begins (Or they throw Pila at first).

An hour or so later......7000 dead men on the field, leaving one victor behind. Soldiers yelling his name. General replies, now we march on Rome~!

    Hehe

Poniatowski1991 could you stop double and triple posting please?

I would like to see Renaissance Total War, Colonial expansion started, religious upheaval and a great mix in the warfare. All the new stuff like Guns getting mixed in with the older stuff like the knights on horseback etc. After that it would be Rome i think.

I think a lot of these ideas are simply too small scale, for instance USA Civil war or Early American Total War, just not enough change from faction to faction or in geographical term.

It won't be Rome II, but rather Victoria. Just look at Fall of the Samurai.

I can agree on that as well, but ROME will come. As next over the next, anyhow. They will not pass beyond WW1.

Victoria total war would be the ultimate sweetner until ROME 2 comes. For sure mate

I can't see any reason why it's more likely to be Victoria than Rome. The three theatres of Empire were too much for the AI to deal with and I haven't seen any great enough improvement to suggest they'd return to that with a Victoria-based game. It's pretty even odds as far as I see it.

Additionally, given how TW games avoided the thorny issue of slavery (esp. in ETW) then the idea of colonialism and imperialism(especially in Africa) and all it's baggage may prove too heavy to deal with.

It will be Rome, and while that may not be everyone's first choice, the complaints should be farely muted. There is so much to add to the original game, every TW game has given us improvements imo and we can expect more on top of them. A Greek States expansion will be great too. Napoleon style campaigns but with Caesar/Hannibal/Pompey. And more depth in all areas of the game.

Then they can go back to gunpowder, though for me i'd prefer earlier than Victorian era.

Agreed, I certainly love guns and bayonets and all that, but it is getting a little tiresome.

I'd love something centred around the Bronze Age Mediterranean, including Ledendary Greek Kingoms such as the Mycenaes with their Lion's Hall. Troy could be a central focus in a game like this. It doesn't have to be purely historical, or pure myth either, but somewhere in between with a dash of imagination. I know I'd play it.

    Please, anything but that...

Bronze Age: Total War and Middle East: Total War are probably the last titles I'd want to see.

May I ask why? If it has been discussed at length (and rejected) here on the forums I wouldn't know as I joined years ago, posted a couple of times and never came back.

Let me know your thoughts man.

    Becuase it is boring,,,,,,man.

Middle east cherry picking, No-0 thank U.

Perhaps Al Qaeda total war of human destruction. Nah, they won't do that to us.
We have got daily news on this "total war"

Bronze Age? Perhaps the stone age. We can throw spears at each other instead! Or eating food from under a stone! Haha, "food".

Nevertheless, these suggestions are directly thrown into the bin of rubbish and inferior ideas.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.
I feel like there would be a lot of merit in a total war game set before rome and in the early periods of civilisation, there would be a massive variety of units and its a period that isn't touched upon so much as others in video games.

a rome II,but with a focused and specific campaign as the mod rome totalrealism VII and not a superficial, antihistorical, empty and bored global campaing.
a historical campaign based in the second punic war.
