Yeah, I hope so too. Then again, it also wouldn't make sense to have 1 marine of like a million different chapters running around either. Not sure how they are going to work that out, to be honest.

But in Space Marine 40k, there is only a squad of Ultras backed up by the Forge World's PDF and IG. So no worries on that front at least.

I dislike the fact that the Orks looks all the same basically.

Strangely, I'm not really looking forwards to this. I think it has something to do with the fact that Relic have such little experience in 3rd person action games and the fact that in an interview one of the Relic guys said you could defeat a boss by pressing 'X,X,X,X,X' and didn't seem to think there was much of a problem with it. It's sounding more and more like 'Gears of Warhammer' without a cover system and with little to no depth. I'm a great fan of 40k but I want my computer games to be a little bit more than an average game with a 40k license, that's why I love Dawn of War but why Fire Warrior was pretty awful (I still have no clue why they made a game with you playing a Tau of all things). I hope to be surprised though.

I think you missjudged the Ork's variety of shapes, sides and shades of green

I see what you're saying, but on the other hand, they are telling you up front that it's a 'Slaser-Shooter,' and not an RPG.

So really, I guess I am expecting an updated Dynasty Warriors with a 40k storyline and a shooter system.

Also, how does this look like Gears of Wars? There is no cover system, and most of the battles are melee.

Yeah but plenty of slasher/shooters have lots of depth. I'm looking at things like God of War, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Vanquish etc. They all rely on complex combo systems and hard to beat bosses. If Space Marine was like then that it'd have a lot more replay value than a game where you can defeat bosses just by hammering the X button. I'm a fan of Dynasty Warriors (or at least was back in the 3/4 days before I got sick of them never advancing the game or fixing it's many problems which have existed since 2) but Dynasty Warriors is a completely different game, it throws around more enemies than what Space Marine seems to have and it also has tactical/battlefield elements. Space Marine is just a linear slash 'em up across stages.

As for Gears of War, 3rd person shooter with melee elements? Add in a cover system and it looks exactly like this.

Relic did post a funny video on their FB page today though:

Bayonetta was a DMC ripoff imo.

I agree, if the game itself is garbage, no matter how shiny the Marines are, nor how much I enjoy 40k, the game will still be garbage.

Then again, I think a lot of the criticism you're throwing its way seems unfounded as of yet. Specific info on the game is still sparse, and again, if you come to this expecting Final Fantasy style storytelling, you're going to disappointed, this is a 40k themed shooter-slasher.

As for DMC4...not really seeing that as a good example for a game with depth. I played DMC4 for the gameplay, nothing more.

May I remind everyone that when dealing with massive Ork invasions, ANY game with a first person view of the defender becomes automatically a SHOOTER.

I think the main thing that i want to know with this game is why the Ultramarines are only sending four guys to defend a vital Forge World from an Ork Waaagghh!

It is the same reasoning that only that about 15 soldiers defended the Aurelia system

Because in Wardian fluff, one Ultramarine is enough to stop a Tyranid hive fleet.
