This is A COMMUNITY OPINION POLL

the mod team will make the ultimate decisions.
    thank you.

edit: if you think you have a very good historical, gameplay, or other reason for a certain one of these factions to be in the game, go to the "A New Faction V 2.0" thread and post your argument. we will not accept spam on that thread however.

this is a more light-hearted discussion on the same subjuct.

i like this choice. it does well to fill the eastern european power vacuum. it also acts as a buffer state between the Romans and Germania.

what a boiisterous and rowdy crowd.

the cool thing about ligurians is that they are basically etruscanized gauls

I would say the Etruscans. Although they were on the wane at the time, it would be good to have another Italian faction. I would prefer the Samnites though. It would be easy enough to create their units I suppose. A slightly modified Samnite mercenary would be an adequate spearman unit. I suppose you could give them equites.

Samnites would be brilliant, if you went back two years to the climax of the Great Samnite War (ended 304 BCE). It was the second of three Samnite Wars.

But you knew I'd vote Syracuse.

the problem with samnites: do you see any room for samnites to be put in?

    much more room for:
    ligura
    or
    syracuse
    or
    etruscans

Historically the Romans did not hold the area of Cannae at the time.

As I said, it would be nice. I'd say Ligura or Syracuse, not Etruscans. The Ligura lasted much longer than did the Etruscans.

Yep, I see plenty of room. Capua for the Samnites, Syracuse for Syracuse (maybe give them Messana too, or make Malta a region) Segesta for Ligurians (I think that's where the Ligurians were) and Arretium for the Etruscans (maybe give them Ariminum too).
Of course, you could bend the history a little to help fit them in.

Only because the Etruscans were closer to Rome.
