    Version 2b is a quick fix to Hattori's Kisho Ninja icon issue.
    It was a typo, now fixed.




    This is a mod to extend The Hedge Knight's Unit Variety Mod.
    This mod is unofficial, and all the original credits should belong to The Hedge Knight.
    Original Unit Variety Mod v2.05 has missing hands and weird horse texture bug.
    So the purpose of this mod is to extend his Unit Variety Mod v1 (which do not have the missing hand and horse bug) to include new unit varieties.


    With Ftmch's permission, this mod also implemented a modified version of his Less Gloss Mod, so be sure to remove the original version of Less Gloss Mod or there will be conflict.
    Note this only applys before version 2.

    NOTE:
    Version 2 and above are fully compatible with Patch 5.
    This mod works online as MP units were not modified.
    Version 2 and above removed old modified Less Gloss Mod but work with the new Less Gloss Mod, which is HERE.
    Version 1 have missing hand bug for Warrior Monks in campaign and historical battle. Version 1.05 fixed the bug but reduced varieties of Warrior Monks' arm.
    This mod conflicts with other variety mods that edited atlas files.
    Version 1.06 and before conflicts with original Less Gloss Mod, because a modified version is already included.
    This mod works with most clan color mods, and are recommended for best unit looks.
    This mod should work with overhaul mods that did not edit atlas or variety files.
    This mod may reduce frame rate due to loading more models.

    This mod works best with unit details in Ultra.
    Unit details on High will have less varieties while medium and low will have no variety. This is set by vanilla, and can not be change by this mod.

    -Fixed crash caused by Katana Ashigaru.
    -Added Naginata Ashigaru support.
    -Included new cannon texture from Unit Variety mod v2.


    -New Kisho Ninja officer.

    (I remember seeing this done by another modder too. This version is different and changes the officer for every clans' Kisho Ninja.)

    -New varieties for Great Guard.

    They all wear mask and look more heavy armored than other cavalry.
    NOTE: The cross-blade pike is not included in this mod, because it will conflict with overhaul mods. I have my own personal overhaul mod with the cross-blade pike Great Guard.     -New varieties for Monk Warriors.

    NOTE: Naginata Monk Cavalry does't apply the changes and I don't know why.

    V1.05 Pictures

    Reduced all Warrior Monks' arm varieties to fix missing hand bug.
    All Warrior Monks still have more head varieties than vanilla.


    V1.06
    -I found out that Hedge was trying to make Ashigaru's Jingasa (the hat) having more varieties by making some Jingasa not having the white cloth texture. Yet this only works when viewing the units from behind. When viewing the units from the front, the cloth still exist, because the model can't be changed. In version 1.06 I took out the Jingasa without the cloth texture to fix this issue.
    This is not a big update, and I believe most people did not notice this issue.

    -I tried to make Ashigaru with more varieties with some not wearing Jingasa, but resulting in missing-hand bug. So I decided not to do it.

    V2 Pictures

    Patch 5 seems to fixed missing-hand issue, so new varieties possible.
    -Removed custom textures.
    -Removed modified Less Gloss Mod.
    -Removed Monk_Cowl helmet as it would require custom textures.
    -Removed Ashigaru Jingasa1 as it would require custom textures.

    -Added varieties in Ashigaru, (some don't wear Jingasa, which is historical accurate).


    -Added varieties in Monk Warriors, (the new Monk Coat was included in latest patch).


    v2a Pictures

    I think I found out the problem for the hand bug.
    As soon as I remove the units' helmet, their hands started to act crazy.
    To avoid hand bug, helmets should stay on.

    -All Ashigaru wear Jingasa.


    -All Monk Warriors wear their mask.



    Installation:
    1. Remove older version or other variety mods (and less gloss mod for v1.06 and before only).
    2. Unzip and put the pack file to your data folder (usualy C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\data).

    There is no need to edit your user.script.


    I found out that unit variety is currently very hard to mod. So I will not update this mod any further other than fixing bugs. For new version of official Unit Variety Mod, please wait for The Hedge Knight to return.

    No more update except for bug fix. So no suggestions please.

    Nice work. Love the variation on the Warrior Monks and appreciate that the Loanswords retained their Jingasa unlike some previous versions.

    The Kisho Ninja is just damn cool no matter what opinion you have on historical accuracy lol

    Works great, thank you for this! +rep Hopefully later this can be updated with the 2.0 version of unit variety (which was great except for the missing hands).

    Can anyone confirm this bug? In custom I don't see this issue. I need to try it out in campaign.

    Yes, my game has this mod in it, but this Unit Variety Mod Extended doesn't include it.

    Yep i can , appears in historical battles for sure at least.



    P.S Unit Variety 2.05v works fine in custom battles also , so it is not rly good testing ground.

    Just tested in campaign, and the bug do exist.
    I do not know why it happened. I will try to lower the amount of variety to see if it fix it.

    Edit: Fixed the problem. It seems to be something wrong with how vanilla generate variety models. I can not fix it. Only thing I can do is reduce varieties in the arms. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Thank you Wind, a much needed mod. When you have some spare time maybe you could add the bare heads without jingasa for the ashigaru like in v.2, they added so much to the diversity.

    so there's no way to fix the bug together with the previous amount of varieties in warrior monks..sad though

    I cant seem to be able toget the mod to work I dropped it in the right folder but its doesnt seem to be doing anything, I have the alternate faction colours installed if that makes any difference.

    Did you extract the pack file?
    The one you just download was a zip file.

    I'm 99% sure i did but i feel the need to check now just in case. A wierd thing i discovered was that the minor factions in campaign seem to hve been affected. Some of their ashigaru were wearing just the cloth jacket thing.
