    I thought most people would figure this out by now.
    I been PM this a few time, and ask "HOW TO MAKE ASHIGARU USE YARI" etc...

    First off major thanks to:
    Agostinos - His tutorial teach me how to make my own unit, and taught me how to HEX edit back then.
    PFM BETA- BIG <3 for releasing this tool. Much better than hex editing 01002Aetc... back then. LOL


    Alright lets get started!

    Purpose:
    This tutorial will teach you the basic on how to edit unit weapon & animation with PFM.

    Example 1:
    We'll start by forcing Yari Ashigaru to use Yari spear like they are suppose to & not switch to Katana.

    Example 2:
    We'll "FIX" GREAT Guard from using the Yari spear to the Yari Trident Spear like in the Unit Card

    What you NEED:
    PFM (PACK FILE MANAGER) - This will unpack ".pack" file (Current is BETA 1.65)
    Common Sense - Not gonna hold your hand, don't expect every single step.

    Example 1:

    Note: You can look at ALL 3 SPOILER for [3] EASY STEP on how to do it.
    The rest of the read below is for detail.


    Part I:
    You should have PFM installed.
    Open PFM and Open the latest PATCH.pack (Which should be patch4.pack)

    Hint #1: (location of .pack file should be in "Steam\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\data")
    Hint #2: (If you editing a MOD, just open their main .pack file ex: "darthmod_shogun.pack")


    Part II:
    On the left hand side, click on the expand ("+") next to patch4.pack
    From TOP to Bottom its listed in Alphabetical Order.
    Scroll DOWN until you see, "unit_stats_land_tables"
    Expand it by click on the ("+") next to it

    Part III:
    Before you do anything, on the upper screen, there should be a check box.
    Please check the box "Use First Column as Row Header"
    On the right side, it should list the units in Alphabetical order.
    Scroll down to "Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru"
    Scroll to the right until the tab reach "Animation Table" & "Warscape Equipment Theme IDRef"

    Hint #3: The Animation Table for "Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru" should be "shogun_man_yari_pike"
    This mean the unit will switch to Katana if engage by infantry type unit.

    Hint #4: The Warscape Equipment Theme IDRef for
    "Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru"should be "shogun_long_yari" this mean it will use the longer Yari Trident.

    So what Unit use a Yari & NOT switch weapon? The Yari_Samurai does!
    So lets take the Animation Table & Warscape Equipment Theme IDRef from them!

    Part IV:

    Go to the Inf_Spear_Yari_Samurai column, on the Animation Tab
    left click on "shogun_man_yari" until its highlighted.
    Then right click & click on "COPY"

    Hint #5: shogun_man_yari this animation command mean it will NOT switch to
    Katana when engage with Infantry Unit


    Go to the Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru column,
    left click on "shogun_man_yari_pike" until its highlighted.
    Then right click & click on "PASTE"

    Hint #6: shogun_man_yari_pikethis animation command mean it will switch to Katana
    if engage with infantry type Unit. (CA should throw this away)


    DA TA! CHEERS! Now your Yari Ashigaru will NOT switch to Katana anymore!
    BUT! We are NOT DONE YET!

    Now do the same for the Warscape Equipment Theme IDRef

    Go to the Inf_Spear_Yari_Samurai column,
    left click on "shogun_infantry_yari" until its highlighted.
    Then right click & click on "COPY"
    Go to the Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru column,
    left click on "shogun_long_yari" until its highlighted.
    Then right click & click on "PASTE"

    FINALLY deselect by clicking somewhere else, and hit CTR+S or go to file & SAVE!

    IMPORTANT!!!: You want to repeat the same for ALL YARI_Ashigaru type except for
    the MP (Multiplayer) & Tutorial. They are more than [1] type of Yari_Ashigaru!
    Apply the following:
    -Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru
    -Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru_Citizenry
    -Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru_Hattori
    -Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru_Ikko_Ikki
    -Inf_Spear_Yari_Ashigaru_Oda

    DA TA! CHEERS! Now your Yari Ashigaru will NOT switch to Katana anymore!
    AND! They are using the Yari Spear like they are suppose to as display in their Unit Card!

    In the end, it should end up looking like this:

    Example 2: FIXING GREAT GUARD

    Where's PART I & II U may ask? Read Part 1 & 2 Above in example one.
    We're skipping to PART III.

    Part III:
    Before you do anything, on the upper screen, there should be a check box.
    Please check the box "Use First Column as Row Header"
    On the right side, it should list the units in Alphabetical order.
    Scroll down to "Cav_Spear_Great_Guard"
    Scroll to the right until the tab reach "Warscape Equipment Theme IDRef"

    This is REALLY EASY.

    Replace the "Warscape Equipment Theme IDRef" from
    shogun_infantry_yari
    to shogun_long_yari

    FINALLY deselect by clicking somewhere else, and hit CTR+S or go to file & SAVE!
    IMPORTANT!!!: You want to repeat the same for ALL Cav_Spear_Great_Guard type except for
    the MP (Multiplayer) & Tutorial. They are more than [1] type of Cav_Spear_Great_Guard!
    Apply the following:
    -Cav_Spear_Great_Guard_Takeda

    From this, to this:

    PHEW there ya go. Not so hard is it?
    You can apply this to Vanilla or Mod!
    Just remember to redo the change if there's an update that affect the unit_stats_land


    Note:
    My mistake if there's already an informative tutorial or if I'm in the wrong section.

    Cheers - never noticed the animation for great guard was bust.
