I would suggest uploading the pictures to a TWC album, and then img tagging them here. That way you get them all in one post.

Source is Les Uniformes de l'Armée Française - Recueil d'ordonnances de 1690 à 1894 - par Dr. LIENHART et René HUMBERT

It's one of the great resource about French uniforms (at least for colors).

Maybe could you merge this thread with [URL="http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=442426"]"French Army"[/URL thread from Victoria: Total War - XIX Century Mod main thread.
It could be better to regroup such information in only one thread.

Its easier for modders to get resource from here than searching from the web. To this effect, i've started
a thread to help modders, here it is http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=416321. But i don't think many know about this.

I could merege but don't know how to... maybe you can help do this..

I've posted some pictures from "Figurines" magazine here (Napoleon: Total War Hosted Modifications > The Khartum and Zulu Mod > French Sub-mod ???)

About merging, I suppose only moderator are able to do this.

We won't be merging threads. We know where everything is, and we have a lot of stuff in the dev forum already.

And also I have checked the dates for the plates. Only the dates corresponding to your mod are taken.

Might I ask if these are copyrighted?

Those plates come from a book edited in 1899, so it's free now (at least in France).

Ok, so if I see any material on net, how do i find out if its copyrighted?
And if by chance they are, why are they still on net and where does all that leave anyone who might want to use it?

I cannot comment on why they are still up, but it is worth checking anyway. The best way is just to look around at the small print.

I agree. But I don't see any harm in using the materials for mods. I mean its not for commercial or profit-oriented use, right??

I think you can use extracts from copyrighted materials.
In France we can use extract from copyrighted material under "article L 1225-5" from" code de la propriété intellectuelle".

As this internet site is hosted in USA, this is the US law that is apply here.
So, I suppose the US "fair use" agreement cover this and it's less restrictive than French law.

Exactly, this is nothing criminal, atleast practically.

That may be so, but one cannot be too careful. See the copyright discussions in the Questions and Suggestions forum to see what I mean.

"small print" is basically the terms and conditions of something-the legal stuff as it were.

Now, I think enough has been said as far as copyright is concerned. However I will say that "fair use" only goes so far. For example, one cannot post osprey plates (similar to those above) up in large quantities on this forum, as they will ask admins to remove them.
