    Default Having trouble pronouncing things?

    http://www.cs.cf.ac.uk/fun/welsh/Lesson01.html

    This might help those who are unaccustomed to the gaelic alphabet. Though I'm not sure of the differences between modern and old Welsh pronunciations, this might ease the pain of really wondering how to pronounce some of these units and places featured in the mod.

    Examples (if the site is indeed correct):

    Contwn = CONtoon
    Llydaw = THLIDow ("ow" as in expression of pain).
    Teulu = TIElee
    Galweddyl = GallooETHul
    Marchogluoedd = MarkoGLEEoith

    I probably made a few mistakes there, but you get the picture.

    Héhé, Ranika may give some hints for pronounciations, he is a pro celtic linguist :wink:

    And just wait our Saxons, not always easy names

    For the contest of our worst name, I think this one can win:
    Gwaywffynabwyr

    Powysian spearmen

    hmm the 'w' reminds me of the Greek 'w' pronounced as 'oo' as well...

    Anyway Gaelic is nice to learn I think like any other Germanic language
