    We could link the additional city levels to the government system, so that barbarians will be able to manage large cities at the price of loosing at least part of their unit roster and morale bonuses.

    I think that would be the best way to do it, but governments might not be available for a while.

    Page file size should be 1.5 times ram size as rule of thumb, in your case 1gb should be enough though...

    Thanks Zarax. After some research and some questioning of those who know about these things, I arrived at the conclusion that 512/512 is the best set-up of the page file (located on a non-Windows drive) when you have 2 GB RAM.

    Hippias: Riczu's ships do look nice. I'll have to try them out some time and see how they look in-game. If I like it, I might add them to XGM (assuming I get permission etc. ).

    Germanicus91: Thanks for posting the file. I can't see anything in there for armour and weapons though. Are you sure they had upgrades?

    Hi DimeBag,

    I think adding a level-1 armour/weapons upgrade was my idea ;-) RTR only does the 2 ex points, if I remember rightly.

    But at least this can help you on the way to doing the experience points. And if you could find a way to do the equipment upgrade as well, that would be bloody awesome :-) (as well as realistic)

    Brilliant, thanks for that DimeBag. Please keep us posted on how you progress with the equipment upgrade for mercs in the next version.

    Although I usually play unified Rome, at the moment I'm enjoying playing 3.6.13 with the 3 Roman families and the civil war. I've noticed that the Romans are much more aggressive as the 3 families than the Romans are as a unity in any mod I've seen to date.

    So at the moment I'm sticking with 3.6.13 but will try the new versions later. If poss, I think you should keep the final version with 3 families always downloadable for your fans :-)

    I came up with a couple unit ideas:

    1) highland infantry: basically means renaming hillmen and making them an AOR unit

    2) nuragic highlanders: basically an iberian bull warrior armed with an axe instead of javelin and sword, available either as mercenary or 2 turns AOR unit in Sardinia and corsica.
    This is an historical "unit" as the nuragic tribes were a major problem for carthage until they understood that trading with them was far better than trying to subduing the whole island (and they got sardinian as mercenaries in the first punic war), plus Rome itself spent more than a century and 4 military campaigns to subdue the tribes.

    Nuragic Sardinians were quite akin to the iberians, they lacked access to iron but their fortified villages were nothing to be taken lightly and often the romans were forced to set forests on fire as a tactic.

    Well, I always wanted to put in RTW something from my homeland and after some research I think it could be a nice unit to add into the game...
    Since EB put nuragic infantry in RTW this is something we could do, but instead of representing the "basic" grunts (that would be hillmen equivalent and not really useful in west mediterranean imho) I'd rather use the elites which weren't pushovers and probably inheritors of a greater civilization (recent studies even put Sardinia as most credible candidate for being Atlantis) now dwindling after a catastrophic tsunami that hit the island a few centuries before...

    Hello

    I have been playing Parthia and Ponthus with 4.0.10 and I think they are really too difficult to play, almost impossible.
    The economy of minor powers should be tweaked a lot to be competitive in XGM 4.
    In fact as Parthia and Ponthus you do not have any real chance to defeat the Seleucids if not cheating: on one side, you are able to put up an economy surplus only with a very little army, on the other hand you have to face waves after waves of AI controlled Seleucid armies.
    I suspect the same for Numidia and all barbarians too close to major powers. Actually with XGM 3 Numidia was often able to survive for a long time against Carthago, now is wiped out in a few turns. The same for Gauls against the Romans and Dacians with Macedons.
