Play as other clan in the middle of the game

well i got this idea from another forum but i forgot where it is but its a good idea

Is it possible to mod the game so you can switch clans in the middle on the game? or probably 'save' the state of your campaign and turn it into another campaign and you can select clans again?

It would be fun to conquer whole japan, then make some provinces rebel. and you could play as them trying to destroyed the empire you just created?

This was possible in Rome Total war if you used the appropriate mod but I don't think it is possible in Shogun 2.
