Great project, might I suggest tuning the brightnes of the colors down a bit for more realism? Dyeing clothes was not as advanded back then as it is now.

I tried toning down the color, but they colors always show up bright in game, I even have light boom turned off. Bright showy colors don't bother me too much. In addition to the mod, I'm working on a US minimod, so have been doing many US units.

It's something I'm doing on the side, apart from a different mod, and new units. It is a ways off yet. I'm also undecided on a few features of the mod.

Photoshop, and I use Milkshape for modding models.

I've been working on custom unit icons as well. These are the near completed units for the US, some need the command group redone yet.

How do you get milkshape to open the .variant_weighted_mesh files?

You can use KnighErrant converter (bundleofETWconverters.zip) or Ultimate Unwrap 3D pro with ETW/NTW plugin.

Contrary to KE converter, UU3D isn't free (approximatively 60$).

But, KE converter can only convert units models to ms3d.
UU3D and plugin convert units, animals, equipments like cannons to ms3d.
Moreover, UU3D is very useful to work on UVMap and to animate model using anim from etw/ntw.

You can begin with KE Converter and use the UU3D demo to look at animations first.

You can also back convert. Thanks! I'm trying to make a napoleonic era French infantry unit by mixing the line infantry body with the green jacket's hat. Looks cool so far. Has some glitches though.
