Thread: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!

I typically stop at 2,000-ish. I like for my chapters to each be free-standing stories in their own right, and I feel anything longer would tire out people reading. In reality whatever works for you best when writing is probably fine I think.

Finally almost done with the next update to my AAR. Will be up later today.

Ooh I shall look forward to it.

Preparation-wise I always said I would, but never did.

What I like to do, is not look at word count at all. If I feel, while writing the next chapter, that what I wanted to say has been written, I end it. Be it 600, or 1500 words ... I try to stick with max of 1500 words, because I don't like the chapters to be 1) forced and 2) too long for readers. I know some of you enjoy a long and good story (especially if the writing is great), but I think most of the people like to-the-point stories, unless they know the writter and his style from previous works (Skantarios being a good example).
At least that's what happens on the first impression ...

I have also read the now-finishing AARtistry course and try to stick with the points mentioned there, and I find it bearable to have a structure when writing an AAR.

Also, when I don't have any good ideas, I like to completely shift my attention to something else and clear my mind. I like reading and writing for the ToTW, which I've started doing more recently, but also works from other AARtists. Reading history always helps too

But what I normally do is - to keep some consistency - play out the story I want to write in the next chapter on Monday, Tuesday or even Wednesday, then cropping and editing the pics on Thursday or Friday, writing the story on Friday and letting it be until Sunday, when I look at it, upload it and edit if necessary. I find this way very helpfull for me.

Preparation for me was an off and on thing with my AAR but I'm doing it more with my current writing. I actually try to write my updates twice once on paper and again on the computer. It's been times when I've written out a update and when I typed it up it looked nothing like what I started with. Things change or the story becomes longer. With the new AAR, I'm planning to do its going to be similar a process. But school is coming again and that means little to no work being done with my writing. It's a shame really.

I'm quite disappointed with myself. I'm looking at an approximately three thousand word update, consisting of five "parts," but I only managed to finish three this weekend. I'll be sure to finish the next two tomorrow, though I promised my readers (the very few I have) an update last Friday!

Normally I just type a chapter straight after I've had a bright idea about a plotline, I do go over the writing again on most occasions just to check the spelling, grammar and more importantly to see if I can make the story a bit more interesting or flowing.

For instance for Tale of Rome, I recently went back over all of the chapters tidying up and making changes that did not change the story but added to it.

If anybody wants a proof-reader or someone to tinker with their work send me a PM, I'm always happy to help fellow writers.

I would ask you to do it, since being 18 years old and Spanish brings a lot of typos, but I'm not sure you've read my AAR completely.

If you want me to take a look I will Paragon, if you want just PM the first couple of chapters (without pics) and I will have a tinker, if you like what I've done I will have a look at the rest, if you are not happy with my suggestions then I won't be offended.

The same offer goes to anyone here whether you are an AARtist or a CW scribbler

If I get a lot of takers it may take me a while though

I was thinking of rewriting War and Peace and all 3 volumes of the Lord of the Rings, updating them to a modern audience and adding comprehensive study notes. Perhaps you could make a start on that for me

I did start to prove read too. It deemed nescessary as TWC formating is screwing up my
text again. So I have to go over them regardless. I hope it will increase the overall quality of my story.

Guys a quick thing, be sure to check out this new thread for some AARs that differ from the norm and are found in the nooks and crannies of TWC.

I'm thirteen, makes for some bad mistakes.

I will ask you this, do you want to look at my work?

Because I will not subject you to reading over my many mistakes unless you want to

Hello everyone I got my new laptop finally!

I installed RTW on it and it works like a charm, I was worried cause I'd heard bad things about windows 8 and the TW games.

But my question is, what mod(s)? Those of you that have played with RTW mods before may I have your recommendations?

I'm not looking for historical accuracy (But I do not mind it!) I just want something that will enhance the game! Make it more exciting to play!

    Thank you.
