I have been to IKEA to get a new desk - well table top to redesign my man cave. No room for the airbrush/compressor on the unit I was using, so now I have changed it. Tomorrow I will be putting it all together and Monday, well I'm pretty sure my wife will have ideas on what to do by then.

I hope that trip included a vist to the IKEA cafe? Those Swedish meatballs are not going to eat themselves. Good luck with the building, I could not tell you the number of family arguments that have resulted from trying to build IKEA furniture.

    Ha, ohhh IKEA.

I meant to finally get quite a bit of writing done, but ended up brewing instead with some friends. And then consuming some of our previously brewed product, so not much productivity in terms of writing for me

What sort of beer do you brew? Is it just with a home brewing kit or do you have a proper micro-breweery set-up?

As you are a Shogun II AAR writer, you might be interested in the Masterpiece Review of Takeda, here (Caillagh's review includes a downloadable PDF of Takeda - distributed with the permission of Robin de Bodemloze - which includes many of the images.)
Oh, how exciting that you've delved into Rome II! With you behind the pen I'm certain it will be exciting in the Rome II setting. I will continue The Touch of Fear as soon as everything settles down with university, I have great plans in store for the future of that AAR. I have already begun reading the Masterpiece Review of Takeda as it is one of my favourite all time AARs

What have/are we all up to over Easter weekend? I for one have not done nearly as enough writing as I would have hoped.
Thanks for the warm welcome Shankbot

Just home brewing, but we're gradually beginning to acquire more serious equipment. We've mostly done dark beers and ciders augmented with fruit slices

Bumped into an old friend/ex-teacher at a cafe the other day, total coincidence since neither of us knew the other was in China. Small world. So then there were a few beers, a bottle of wine, a bucket of whiskey, and then some poor Chinese bartender - who probably thought he was being nice, instead of nailing in the coffin - gave me some buy-one-get-one-free deals on tequila. Apparently I went clubbing, but don't remember much of that. A very traditional Easter all round...

Sounds interesting. I've tried a couple of home brewed stuff (never done it myself, kind of fancy it though), it is kind of hit and miss - some of it can be fantastic, others not so good.

So was that 40 days of not drinking shoved into one night, or an excuse for a celebration?

Actually just a pretty average night in China

I also completely forgot Camp Nano starts on Friday. I haven't worked on my novel since November. Blehhh, I need to get motivated fast.

I did 60k in Nano back in November, my first one since like 2012 or something. I want 400k overall, but I'm so lazy sometimes and Nano is a good kick up the behind to get me to write. So I'd like to continue my story again this camp (doubt I'll have chance for the next one). Plus since I'm writing in Chinese, it's a fun way to study as well, provided I use the new vocabulary I'm meant to be learning in class. I just need to go and lurk the forums and find a decent cabin, re-read a bit of my story and hopefully I'll be good to go. I usually get nano fever way before the event starts, but time has flown by so quickly recently, I totally forgot about it.

I hope you get a good cabin of fellow writers and that the writing flows. Wow, 400k overall sounds like an ambitious goal. I looked online for the total length of the three Lord of the Rings books, as a reference point, and found a web site which said that they're about 150k each. This sounds like an ideal way to reinforce your study of Chinese.

Hitai spoke about it last time I think. Or the time before I cannot really remember. It is a writing "competition" where you set yourself a word goal to finish a piece of work in the month of April (I am signed down for a 50k Sci-fi novel) and you can join cabins with eleven other aspiring authors to discuss the pieces and receive/give support and assistance.

    I think.
