True. What's cool is if you know how to find the right ones, you can pull them up on your phone when you're unwinding in bed and read until you go to sleep.

A big welcome to all the new guys that have found their way here.

My personal picks for must read AARs would be Primus Inter Pares by Radzeer and Pagan Vengeance by Skantarios - very different in style but special in their own ways.

Much thanks to those who mentioned my thing... here's something else for anyone who's interested.

    Shameless self advertising their mate.

I'll also recommend Restoring Rome (M2TW), a great AAR to read.

God, I really need to get Shogun 2, don't I. Reading Robins AAR just makes me want to play it.

I would recommend it, I think it is the best of the "new" TW-games (Empire, Nap etc.) - I never really got into FotS but I enjoyed the RotS expansion as well.

I have always dwelt on the periphery of this area, as though a wallflower watching the bigger boys and girls.

Now, I'd really like to get involved; write some stories, contribute more fully, create some artwork and some wider literary projects. In short, contribute more readily to a forum that has given me so much pleasure for such a long time.

    I hope to start soon!

Robin's AAR made us all want to play Shogun 2 (one of the reasons I picked it up )!

Maybe its just me but I actually liked ETW and NTW more than Shogun 2 though Shogun 2 is the better game. Im actually thinking of starting a NTW AAR as forum for its AARs are lacking (non-existent) and its not too bad of a game for an AAR.

The more the merrier! I look forward to reading your work. Also let us know if you ever need anything - as Merch said, we don't bite!

I never really enjoyed Empire too much, but I think NTW definitely has some AAR possibilities. I wanted to do an Austrian one set in Italy, but NTW just fried my laptop over and over again. Plus I have far too much stuff to be getting on with as it is. Be good to see you venturing into that territory though - remind me to check out your ETW AAR sometime soon too! I've been so bad at reading things lately

    Well, where to begin...

Welcome all the new folks, good to have you here, and I'm sure we'll all soon be enjoying the fruits of your labours.

Well done to my replacement, F0ma, long may she reign!

And I think that the idea of the '100 AARs' is not actually a bad idea at all, in fact I would recommend creating something like that.

I love all of the TW franchise (except for that one game...Rome something, something), but must say- as I always do -that anything can be made into an AAR if the writer has the will to try and the imagination to see it through.

Speaking for myself, I promise that when I return to my beloved England I shall do my utmost to complete those AARs I really need to and get on with two I've been meaning to do for a while now, one in ETW and one in STW: FoTS.

Got to get back to the CW section now and do some reading, and some writing. Cheerio for now!

I like it, but it would be difficult to coordinate if we wanted active votes on it. But if we compiled it by statistics it might work; most posts/views/awards etc, although often those might not be fair reflections of how 'good' an AAR is. Maybe if we downscaled it to 10 or 25, then got everyone to submit their own personal list, then we worked out averages from those Still a fair bit of work though, but potentially doable.

Also the TWC Olympics are underway, if any of y'all missed the announcement. Although there's a screenshot contest, it doesn't look like they've made allowances for us writing folk. Still, you're all welcome to come and school me at chess

What if it was top 10 AAR 's to read in different time periods or TW games?

Definitely an idea that has potential as well. It all depends on how we would go about it; these things can get quite unwieldy the bigger they get though, which is something we would have to take into consideration. It also means people will have had to have read 50+ AARs, which might be a tall order.

The one issue I see with this is that Rome 1 and MTW2 AARs make up like 75% of all AARs. It would not be a fair competition with the other titles.

Alternately everyone could come and embarrass me at WarLight.
Swords of the Sea: 1066 has come and gone, the Danelaw torn down and a new kingdom built in the image of its Norman rulers. But with time, wounds heal and what is broken can be reforged. The Danes have returned with steel, and seek to reclaim what is theirs.
The Great Expedition: Pax Anglia, one of Earth's great empires, sprawling across the stars. On their newly colonised planet of Nova Sydney, adventure awaits on the savage frontier - Henry Boyce steps forward to lead an expedition to pierce the Bushlands' wild heart.
Winter War: Finland, 1939. The Soviet war machine has begun its indomitable advance from the east. Of all its neighbours, only Finland stands alone in defiance. Conscript Anton Bezrukov prepares for a quick victory, but the reality is far bloodier...

Congrats GR on the bold and blue.

Welcome as well Mr Rogn, it would be easier to suggest AARs for the newer games because there are less of them, looking into RTW and M2TW makes it a lot harder - although there are some classics that I'm sure we can all agree on.

I'd be honoured if people could stick their heads into my "Forlorn" project and give me some pointers. At the moment, it's a poster and a prologue, but expect the narrative to expand in the coming days. If people could follow it and contribute critique, that would be phenomenal.

    Thanks!

You should consider posting in the "Advertising Board" http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...latest-updates a lot of people (myself included) follow the thread specifically for updates to stories, so would notice it for sure.
