How many times have I told you that the lambda was not the symbol of Sparte until the Pelopponesian war.
Unless this is for the Pelopponesian war. But still. It's overused

A bull would be better. More accurate.

Also, WIP map is almost done, I only need to whip up some characters and voila!

So choosing the correct faction symbol necessitates the use of "****ing seriously"?
    I think not.
A bull would be far better.

Please dont take it personally,i didnt refer to you or anybody else.I was just trying to emphasize that being completely historically correct isnt always the best thing. But it falls to the developers to make that decision(i dont know if u r one).

Anyway i have some suggestions:The Spartan hoplites should NOT wear any armour(historically they didnt wear any),now i dont mean they were like the 300 movie, but they had little or no armour, not clothes. And their helmets were more simple than other Greek helmets,

Depends the era. After the pelopponesian wars the spartans did only wear the spartan helmet, shield and cloth. But because they were poor.

Before that they were much more like late feudal knights, so full armor on the spartans.

Your referring through the time period, when they felt the spolas and linothorax would be more effective to maximize the speed of the phalanx. The peltast was the major cause, from what i remember young spartans would be unarmoured only shield, some helmet pilos would run out of the phalanx perusing the peltast. The Skiritai had the same role, the "young spartans" could just be mistaken for the Skiritai but they were placed at the left flank from one source and not jumping out fo the phalanx to prey on the psiloi....

Though spartans with cloth, shield and pilos or Chalcidean is fine whatever goes won't sink my boat

Beautiful i think the bull would be an psychological tool like the gorgon, moving forward at night and you see the bull pattern, then an shout and a slow spear of death Hah .

from what i remember after pelopponesian warthe Spartan state toke all the money, and didn't even give any to there allies.

though i remember the Spartans started doing activities they didn't do before, like they all adopted stuff of the aristocrats of Athens or something did. like horse riding and stated to lose discipline they became really greedy or i might be wrong

Well, the M2TW engine supports more than one shield blazon, right? Why not put them all in?

@medievaldude, maybe to represent culture (doric, ionic, etc, although I believe the difference wasn't so great or dividing amongst greek cities) or government type. Dunno, I'm no dev member, but I think it's too early to define that kinda stuff, or am I wrong?
