Locking yari ashigaru in spearwall formation

Is it possible to lock the yari ashigaru into a regimented spearwall formation??As in accordance to doctrines of the time their proper role should be akin to western pikemen rather than the individually engaging fighters we have currently,which was actually the role of the Yari Samurai due to their sophisticated understanding and skill with said weapon

well, yari samurai were rather deployed among yari ashigaru, we should not learn history from TW games...

And the cavalry was a combined force, where only the minority was mounted, while the majority were their foot-attendants, mainly ashigaru armed with yari.

But still, the problem is that different factions sometimes used different yari, those used by Oda infantry were really much like pikes, 5 meters long (and called nagae).

indeed I am aware of these things but we must act within the confines of the system as it stands,and seeing the Nagae is not present in the game we must make do as we have.
