It looks like lot of campaigns starts you off with a small force and small rebel of some sort for you to deal with...

Something I noticed was that any general that participates in an autoresolve battle as leader of their force get experience, so almost every faction can benefit from this right away by using both your faction leader and the general who is in charge of your small army into your first battle for fast 2 lvl 2 generals.

That's strange... from my experience, only the general who is in charge gets the experience points.

Not all. There is no any rebellion army nearby Hattori's capital in Hattori campaign.

Yeah I'm doing this too. Every battle I take two generals and let one reinforce the other, so they both get tons of exp.
