But he is an astute politician. He is some random dude from the North, allegedly descended from Gondoran kings thousands of years ago. Having acquired narsil in one way or another, he then gets it reforged. Then he uses it to summon some ghosts and stuff, along with his bodyguard, and gets an army by defending Pelargir. Arriving fashionably late to the battle of Pellenor, he saves everyone's ass and seizes the throne while the ruler is unconscious. Now with the help of his buddy he has effectively grabbed the entire Gondoran Empire for himself, and after some Deus Ex Machina, he's the king.

This guy is not easily beatable.

Especially if the Hobbits' account of the events is, in fact, what we call "unreliable narrator".

All that said, he's a

general. He made two noob boxes when facing the Mordoran army. And his men have outdated equipment. A Westerosi army under Stannis I would mop the floor with them.
