Default What if: The Umayyads prevail at Tours

Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqi stands triumphant on the battlefield, the serried Muslim cavalry to his back. Before him, the whole of Europe ripe for conquest.

The remnants of the once-formidable Carolingian army are in flight, scattered and divided, their leader Charles killed in battle against the relentless Moors.

All of Europe trembles as the hammer of Islam prepares to crash down upon them with terrible fury. What will happen next?

That is a tough question to answer.

I think the most possible scenario is:
    1) Arabs advance further but are defeated somewhere in middle or north of France.
The Europeans would have made an alliance and raised more armies.
-But the Moors would continue the job...if they don't fragment and start infighting.

I recently read a great Victor Davis Hanson's book on decisive battles in Western Civ, and he goes over this topic a bit. His basic argument is that the moors were having a tough enough time assimilating their other gains and were on the end of their logistical tether, even if they had managed to win the initial battle the Euros could have easily marshalled more troops, not so much for the moors.
