Spearmen how many do u take?

How maney do u take and why?
I tend to take 1 on med founds as i find them to be no match againts swards men, what i do is position them on the flank i think my opoinent is going to be heavy on cav.

huh even at 5k i take 3 yari ashigaru, 2 loan swords, 3 bow ashigaru 1 yari cav and 1 light cav.

I find it to be balanced and works rather well, but to standup to swords you gotta put spear wall on and hit with cav.

Around 3 or 4, not less, since I am specialising on them.

Seems like very few people like to do this.. but i prefer a army with a big number of spear units. The spear is a very versatile weapon, its great vs cavalry, decent against sword units, and most of all they are cheaper! You can get more units with spear units, giving you a bigger number and more flexibility in the battlefield. I get few units of sword samurai just to boost the morale of the weaker units so they i wont suffer so much from morale breakdowns.
