direct x external installer failure

ok so whenever I go to start shogun 2, it acts as if its the first time its started and attempts to run the "installing direct x" but the app fails and crashes... then Shogun 2 starts.. and it plays perfectly well.

it happens every time I start shogun 2 and is rather annoying, anyway I can set it so steam doesn't think its the first time I'm launching the game? maybe bypass the failbot install?

no dice, I have a newer/equivalent verison of DX.

as I say its a crashing installer that constantly makes steam think I'm running the game for the first time over and over. its not causing any real harm, its juts annoying.

I'm sorry, what it ACTUALLY SAYS is something about applying VC redist 1 of 1, quick crash then S2 starts like normal.
