It's not even that difficult. TaW found out the details about the new DB format soon enough. It's just a lot of new tables that need to be sorted out.

With 1.6.2 startpos.esf seems to be decoded correctly as well, great!

Thanks a lot LM for the updated version! +rep

I just checked all "local_*_patch.pack" files and they can be opened/extracted/viewed properly.

I can update my UPC-SHO project with new text fixes soon.

Thanks for your awesome effort and great to hear that three masterminds are working on it!

I'm glad it works. I just saw that the program still displays the wrong icon but this should be fixed in the next release.

Congratulations + rep, but I still can't access the patch_movies.pack to remove the amd\intel .bik.

I have a bug when i save the pack file. The tree change in the pack file.

    sample :
    - xxxx.pack
    - db
    -unit_tables
    -units

    become :
    - XXXX.pack
    - _tables
    - units

Is there anybody else who have the same bug ?

Yup me too. Never had this before the new patch.

:edit: I went back to the 1.6.1 and it worked fine.

Db tables for the time are not supported by Pack File Manager. Creative change the format file. Pfm need to be upgraded and to do it need time and ability.

Yes I have this bug too if I want to replace db tables or rename it. After the saving process the tables get mixed and mostly one table has strange names then. The game causes a CTD if started with this file. I tried to make a completely new .pack file and added the tables again. The same problem appears. I used again 1.6.1 and it works fine.

Yesterday the new patch also updated the "local_*_patch.pack" language files. I can open/extract/export and view them in PFM. But if I try to edit a value and then press save, the same problem as above appears with the *.loc files too.

Thanks for pointing this out. There was a mistake in the saving procedure for pack-files. It should be fixed now.

CA obviously changed the pack-file layout (maybe to make modding more difficult???). Anyways, they added some 8 bytes to the file header and I'm not sure about their purpose. I believe this to be a checksum to verify file integrity. However, this is pure speculation.
Moreover, they made the header even more complex by inserting all overwritten previous filenames (that is why patch_movies.pack won't open).

I'll upload an updated beta version as soon as I find a way to get around this header issue.

Porphyr fixed this in code. There were some unknown bytes that needed to be added.
I just found those 8 bytes are a timestamp. I guess CA decided to add timestamps to the new PFH2 format.
    I'll release a quickfix asap.

That's great news Lord Maximus! it sure is awesome to seeing the pfm coming along. Not sure if you are aware but it seems like the pfm is corrupting esf files when they are being extracted from a pack in version 1.6.1.

I'm working on a new DataSet creator which uses the same DB.Xsd as TaW uses for his tools. But this together with figuring out the new tables/columns takes a lot of time. Since I can spend just 3 or 4 hours a week on this its coming along slow. But its coming along.

As soon as all bugs with reading/writing the packfiles are fixed I'll focus on the DB files 100%.

Have you tried 1.6.2 yet? That should have fixed that.
