    Default Rome: Total War Problems

I got Rome Total War last weekend and my save doesn't work i've searched all over the internet ( mostly google searches ) and haven't found any solutions. It says Save Failed: Couldn't create save fle on disk? I am on my admin account on my computer ( Toshiba ) and I use Windows XP. All others who've had this problem all seem to be using Vista.

Also, I have crashes to my desktop randomly while playing on the campaign map which is annoying, it happens always when I conquer Memphis in Egypt. So... ya. I haven't been able to play through Imperial campaign completely due to CTD and I can't save! So virtually I have no way of playing any other faction besides rome HELP

Savegames are nothing new to XP, either. It's usually low ram, background programs running, fragmented harddrive, etc. the only thing you can do if it's your first save is start over.

You may want to try Game Booster to sut down many unneeded programs and services and ge tyou more free ram.

Post your dxdiag would let us see.

You can look in Task Manager. Start the game, alt-tab out and check it to see how much is being used.

Is the autosave set to read-only?

When you run it, click the Save all info button on the bottom, save it to your desktop and post it here.

ok autosave is set to archive and read only
Untick the read-only box and you should be good.

Click start, click run, type dxdiag, when the screen comes up you will see the button. It tells your hardware and drivers for the hardware that are loaded.

Something changed whether it be IE9 or something with it. You may have to reinstall the game for it to catchup as old as the game is.

You won't open those. They are part of the installer. You are still reading the disc.

Cabinet errors are 99% of the time you need a clean install.

    1. Uninstall the game in Control Panel.
    2. Delete the Rome Total War folder.
    3. Run a registry cleaner.
    4. Reboot.
    5. Run setup.exe on the disc.

    Why a registry cleaner?

Because the unistaller does not remove the registry keys. It's either use a registry cleaner or take your chances with regedit.
