I'm wondering if this is possible, I purchased TW:S2 via Steam 2 months ago and a few days ago my cousin got the DVDs for it, can I install TW:S2 using those DVDs or will I have to download the full game?

you can use the CDs, although with steam it will sometimes think you want to DL it. so just make sure you down download it from steam and its installing from the CDs, its fairly simple how but i dont remember at the moment since i havent done that in a while. but thats what i did with empire.
You look great today.
When will I get the keys? When the game is activated? Because I don't see the cd keys for ETW and NTW either.
Couldn't you pre-load it through Steam? I don't know, but I assume you could install it via the disks and could only play it via Steam...so it might work. Wouldn't hurt to try.

you can preload if you bought it off of steam and steam offers it. They usually can only do preloads if the game developers shot them over the code prelaunch. Didnt realize you didnt have the cd. This is what i did for NTW, i bought the game off of steam, and whenver i need to install i borrow my bothers cd, as long as you have the game attached to your account it doesnt seem to care.
I do not believe that STW2 is pre loading on Steam.
Or at least i bought it on steam earlier today and there is no pre load option, while last week i bought Dawn of War 2 Retribution and was able to pre load it about 4-5 days before release (maybe a week).
Unfortunate really because i can see a ton of problems later on when the game releases either from the downloads being so slow due to the demand for the game, and or inexperienced Steam users thinking they are doing something wrong when really its just what happens when a large game is released with no pre load.
Hopefully Steam and Sega will be diligent enough to foresee the demand for the game (Its been on the steams top selling list for a while now) and the release and subsequent downloads go smoothly.
Hey. Just tomorrow I got my copy of TW: Shogun 2.
I wanted to install the game now but after connecting my copy to my steam account it says the game cannot be installed, still that it can be activated and played on 0:00.
Can I somehow install the files so I can play right after 0:00?
Anyone made it?
Im geographically close to the steam servers, so I'm not worried. Still, a preload would be nice.
My connection is 2mbit, so it takes me 12-15 hours depending on the actual download size. Uh in how many hours is the game unlocking for you guys?
I think it unlocks at 11 PM GMT, doesn't it?
Resident radical moderate.
I did not have an preload option with Bulletstorm either but I was able to thanks to some guys on the steam forums. All they presented was a link which activated the download. This means that I can download the game before it activates and when it does it's ready for playing. Maybe we could try to get the link before tonight?

21 hours for me <_<
Well, it comes on two DVD-ROMs so if you have a CD-ROM then you've been robbed....
As others have pointed out you can only install Shogun2 when it's been released on Steam.

12am GMT.
Steams a bit funny that way, it does not count minutes so it rounds up the hours.
Right now its saying 7 hours... but its 17:43 so that would be 12:43 the game is supposed to be released at.
But since it does not list minutes what it actually means is that at 17:00 there was 7 hours to go (12am/midnight).
At 18:00 it will be 6 hours.
At 18:59 it will still be 6 hours.
At 19:00 it will jump to 5 hours.
Etc.
In short, its 12am/midnight for the UK launch.
