Any thoughts on how (or if) the recent natural disaster in Japan and its subsequent worldwide news coverage will affect the release of Shogun 2 in markets outside of Japan?

No effect. The release goes on as normal.

CA might lose out on some sales to the Japanese market.

A good question. Many more people will hear and read about japanese topics. So it might give more publicity to this game. Just think about all the people saying they will never buy Shogun because they donīt know anything about Japan. It could increase the sales to some (small) extent.
multiple threads on this very topic, what the hell
This thread makes me ill.
Dominion of Dust. A city of sand. Built your world of nothing. So how long did it stand?
A 100 years? Now wasn't it grand? Built your world of nothing. How long did it stand?
What did you think would happen? When did you think it would all fall down?
Domain of dust in a land of sand. Did yourself right, so let's feel grand.
Domain of dust in a land of sand. Now there's nowhere left to stand.
Another one...
CA isn't a japanese company, case closed
CLOSE CLOSE CLOSE please
Any connection a wargame about Japanese history of 450 years ago & the terrible things happening in Japan today is totally irrelavent. I mean, is there one ?
I can't see how us playing Shogun 2 is being insensitive to the plight of the Japanese people. We are cognizent of & sympathetic ( to say the least ) to the ongoing events so far away, but if you were to say ' Don't play this game as it's disrespectfull ' - you should also say ' Don't play ANY games at this time as that would be disrepectfull '. In this case, the subject matter is irrelavent to the unfolding disaster. IMO.
Wether we should seek enjoyable diversion for ourselves at all at this time is another matter entirely & should be left to individual choice.
It's just disrespectful (in the full meaning of the word!) to ask what the OP asked in face of such a bad catastrophe. As much as we enjoy it, a game remains a mere game, and it is simply not important how it would be affected by the suffering of so many people.
Hell, if one single life could be saved by not releasing this game, it would be a damn good thing.
Someone please close this thread.
