From what I've seen, the weird mini-plates stuff from Braveheart was the result of budget issues rather than historical research. They simply did not have enough $$ to outfit all the extras with chainmail, and came up with that stuff as a substitute.

1st Scots had knights too...WW was a knight too in real.
2nd Scotish "soldiers" were not as the movie shows.
In fact they were much better equipted and they were the ONLY in europe that used scildron formation.
3rd These guys i th elast pic are englishmen.
In fact their armor is much cheaper than a descent chain mail because is easier to make small plates and place them over a leather or cloth jacket.

1) Indeed Scotland had knights but were less equipped prior the French influence to integrate feudalism. For sure not as much as England, this is a picture of Scottish knights at Bannockburn in 1314
AS you can see, most of the knights wouldn't have caparison and even Robert the Bruce mounts was light armored in addition to be a palfrey. This link shows a design model for Robert and his mount along the knight Sir Henry de Bohun.
And yes, Wallace was a knight, don't know why they depicted him as a Scottish rabbles.
2)Totally agreed. This is what the main Scots were
3)Correct but now sure about that equipment set.They would have wore mail than scale like armour.

From the review I did yesterday after your suggestion, the "Other" culture could be replaced with "Brythonic", so Wales and Britanny will have it as base culture. And it will be quite a challenge for the duchy been surrounded with French and English culture. Thanks for the idea, +rep.Yeah Brythonic would be the obvious choice for Wales. Also, Brittany is a brythonic duchy and they speak a similar language to Welsh. Would it be possible to make a Brythonic culture for wales and brittany or would that ruin the breton english/french balance. Alternatively, you could replace Gaelic with Celtic and include Wales (and maybe Brittany) Just a suggestion
And yeah the mod looks amazing and i can't wait for it to come out!
