Keep in mind, Minas Morgul should have an unreal, washed out look. It should be a fortress that is very beautiful (like Minas Tirith) but has been corrupted into an evil, virulent form.

the textures for the fortress are OK but the rest of the map... well it looks kind of blue. you should really use KK's textures for the rocks. anyway great work, +rep

Where do you get "...like fluroscently green walls"? I'm talking primarily about contrast (difference in value between light and dark), not color.

The current fortress and ground look very washed out and have little contrast. There is no real dark value less than 70% anywhere. With the sky as dark as it is, the ground needs to have dark values. Dark sky and light ground don't work without deep shadows to give a real sense of texture.

As it is now, without any deep shadows, it looks unrealistic. My eye doesn't buy it.

It seems like its probably solveable by altering the textures or the lighting (and, hence, shadows).

Personally, I'd darken the whole scene quite a bit and play with the light to get some harder shadows.

The question is: can the M2TW lightning engine handle your suggestions? Do you have any experience creating textures for the M2 engine supporting your suggestions? Personally Im happy with D_A's textures and I believe that thats the best solution the engine will allow.

That's a good point. I don't know if the M2TW engine can hande deeper shadows. I do know that other "dark" models (KK's Black Gate, Moira, etc.) seem to have that 3-dimensionality and the sky looks correct when viewed with the ground.

Don't mistake, I think the model is superb and overall it is near fantastic...but something isn't there yet and it has to do with that washed out, monotoned appearance and the fact that all objects at ground level are lighter than the sky above.

Oh for god's sake, cut the crap. Two months ago speeches were hardcoded, now the colour of the textures is hardcoded? I don't know much about modding but I know enough to know that this is pure . There is a difference betwen "can't do" and "don't want to do".
    No offence.

Did KK already say if he's going to implement it in the next patch? Will it be Part of 3.0 or is Devils_Advocate going to make Minas Morgul already downloadable for us?
    Thanks beforehand (optional addition )

Some pics of it appeared on the moddb page, so I'd guess it will be for 3.0

It was also a question. And anyway, just because it may be possible to do doesn't mean that it's possible, viable or responsible for the team to do.

    This is awesome Devils_Advocate.

I must say that the textures of the city are really well made. This green light of Minas Morgul isn't really possible in M2TW, but with your textures it looks like it is there!

I don't know how it is in-game but in the moment it seems to be a bit small, but that I will see when I can play it.
