minimap mod

CAn anyone tell me how to install this, as i really dont have a clue.

I don't have any luck installing it either. The basic idea to installing it is

1. windowskey+r or start>run and type in %appdata% to find your roaming folder (you can also find it by going into your minecraft game and clicking mods and textures to get it to open the textures folder inside of your roaming/.minecraft folder)

2. Depending on which mod you want to install you might have to do extra things but IIRC minimap mod requires modloader (v4 IIRC) and zan's minimap mod.

3. Open the bin folder in the root .minecraft folder

4. Find and open the minecraft.jar archive

4a. you may wish to create a backup minecraft.jar with the working version of your mincraft.jar left in it because mods tend to result in crashes which mean reinstalling the game if you didn't make a backup

5. Drag and drop the downloaded mods (zan's and modloader) into a temporary folder, this is important because different compression types tend to work differently and for some reason they do not always decompress before being copied.

6. Delete the meta-inf folder inside of the minecraft.jar archive

7. Copy the files into the root folder in your minecraft.jar archive overwriting as necessary, delete your temp folder if you want to.

7a. you may wish to check that modloader works first before adding the minimap mod.

8. Launch game and hope that they work.

That's the theory anyways. For whatever reason using exactly this method minecraft simply crashes. I think it's due to modloader being unstable but there's no help available on the forums for this error because everyone assumes you missed a step even if you didn't :/ After retrying about seven times last night I gave up.

Thats what I done and it worked for me mate. Although the META-INF folder wasn't there to be deleted.

No do it like this.

Download minecraft mod manager (mmm)
Run it. Click yes when it you get the popup

Download mod loader. Press the +box icon in mmm and direct it to the mod loader zip folder.
Download the mini map and do the same (aka the +box). Click finish moding button located at the upper right corner of the mmm window.

Done.

Thats what I done and it worked for me mate. Although the META-INF folder wasn't there to be deleted.

I simply get a black screen followed by a crash report. When I use mod manager I get no noticable differences other than the fact it runs :/

I was able to get someone to give me their working .jar yay. I don't understand why I was able to install it on my friend's computer but not mine but w/e.

can anyone tell me with better instructions how to get this texture pack to run?

It's really simple, extract the contents into the .minecraft folder, copy them into the minecraft.jar file, run mcpatcher, select the minecraft enhanced v1.3_01 texture.zip file that should've been extracted already in the drop down menu, click the options you want (custom lava/water) hit patch and it should tell you whether it's a success or not.

Or simply use the link remlap has and use the mod manager to load the texture then patch it using the specified mcpatcher after extracting minecraft enhanced v1.3_01 texture.zip from the download.

ive use the mod manager and iv eplaced the texture pack in my texture pack folder, i then start minecraft and nothing happens.

right, i tried installing the texture mod however this then stopped minecraft working. i then deleted my minecraf tfolder and reinstalled mc which meant i had to reinstall the minimap, however now when i install the minimap it stops minecraft from loading it just comes up with a screen saying "done loading" and from what i can work out this means that the .jar is corrupt.

Reinstall minecraft again by deleting your minecraft folder entirely.
