About drums, they were use to rythm march but also to give orders.

All drummers from all French regiment were gatehred togerher in Paris during Louis XV reign to be teach by Jacques Bouroux, Gardes Françaises' drum-major.
The goal was to unified drum tunes.

I hope to replace the actual vanilla drums tunes with fifer and drums ones.

Mostly about Consulat and Empire, but some general informations about ancien régime : La musique militaire sous le consulat (French language)

There is Régiment Saintonge march, and Marche Royale de France too http://www.deezer.com/listen-5714080

Here is a fifes and drums version of the famous 'Malbrouk s'en va-t'en-guerre', the most played and sang tune in French Army during 18th century. It was played for the last time during the American Independance War :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svh_w...el_video_title

For history, most people think Malbrouk was composed after the battle of Malpaquet at the beginning of 18th c., pretending the Duke of Marlborough's death. Actually the air of Malbrouk is based on an old tune of 16th century, a landsknecht's tune at the origins.

I just red the rest of this thread. I can draw some units, just order me.

    2011-05-15 UPDATE : base texture for fr_off_inf1 et fr_off_inf2

Those bases are intended to simplify texture creation for specific units.
Buttons, braids, pockets and colors need to be add to base to create specific unit diffuse texture

It's incredible how much more realistic it looks like! Very nice work guys, it's awesome. Really looks like reenactment uniforms. Can't wait to see more, congratulations!

About that, the regiment wasn't there in reality. But it's a reenacment world and further more, there isn't enough reenacment groups, so we were there. Also, reenactment uniforms are very very expensive, so that's why chronologically ours doesn't always fit with the battles we are reenacting. The worst are First Empire Reenactment as you should have so many different uniforms for the same regiment! So you need to improvise...

As for when gaiters started being worne, in Denmark it was 1700 but the gaiters then were red, but may not have been standard until 1712 when the gaiters were white or grey. The Portuguese may not have introduced gaiters as standard until around 1762. I think 162eRI's pictures are from a renactment at Fort Louisburg in Canada. They can't be from Almanza because the Royal Ecossais didn't exist back then.
My pictures are from reenactments around Europe (Minden Germany, Almansa Spain, Carrickfergus Northen Ireland and Briançon France).
Well, like Wangrin answered they were wearing mostly white gaiters when in campaign/battle. In garrison, that's an other story as for exemple the "Compagnies Franches de la Marine" were wearing blue gaiters.

Correction: Denmark only introduced gaiters in 1712 (that's when they're first mentioned at least) not 1700. Bavaria had then in 1683 but it's unclear if they were standard yet. Sr Rodrigues has confirmed to me that Portugal didn't have them until 1762.

Hi. I will send you the skins later. Diesbach drummer isn't ready so they have to use the royal livery for the time being.

I haven't made an officer yet for the Bombardiers de la Marine. There are no available pictures of the officer for this unit.

Weren't the Bombardiers de la Marine pretty much amalgamated within the colonial Cannoniers Bombardiers by the Seven Years War ? That seems to have been the case in New France (I think the company stationned in Louisbourg was incorporated into the Cannoniers Bombardiers some time before the SYW).

    hello from Mexico

"bombardier de la marine" officer should use the fr_off_line2 model.
uniforms color are the same than the bombardier, but he wore a tricorn with silver or gold lace

bombardier de la marine were independant from cannoniers bombardiers.
they have been amalgated with royal artillery

    Heey Wangrin!

On my side I was thinking that it was the same unit with a giberne, your opinion is welcome otherwise I would make a mistake!

I need only the Geronimo's texture so as to start to work on the *.pack file.

I will send you a PM, I did not if you could go on TWC or not.
