I prefer Flag 2.
Hey Wangrin,
I was just reading a a book caled Rivals of the Raj about non-british armies in India, it mentions that De Bussy used black slaves called Cafres who were dressed in their native costume and were armed with hatchets and muskets. He also used special units called cafres Jannisaires which were dressed in "Ottoman style" which was red cloaks and headresses and was also thinking of hiring units from Abyssinia but the war ended before he could have them brought in.
Thought you might be interested for youw own information if not for the mod itself.
Thank you very much RexImperator
I've planned to work on some "native auxilaries" unit for Bussy's army.
One of the unit will be Bussy's "hussars", a native light cavalry unit : French East Indies Company Native Hussars
African auxilaries could look like this : African Mercenaries
So, I'm very interested in any informations about such native units
Thanks to Lordsith, I've update first post to add NPI for DMUC pack file download link![]()
For the Abyssinians it says " In 1754 (Hostilities had been ongoing since the War of Austrain Succession) Dupleix considered the recruitment of Abysianian slaves, but did not have time to arrange this." If you wanted to include them I'd suggest trying to locate pictures of Abyssianian infantry at this time period. I think they would provide for a historical fantasy unit.
For the Cafres Janissaires it says "Bussy had a small body of Cafre Janissaires in scarlet robes with tall fur caps." This is all it says on the subject. Possibly a a unique grenadier or a guard regiment? The fur caps to me seem to indicate that they were grenadiers.
For the r"regular" Cafres it says "The Cafres received a red bonnet with green band bearing the fleur-de-lis, (probably a pokalem or dragoon style cap) and a pair of gaiters." and also "Apart from the Cafres Janissaires, the cafres dress was said to be not complicated, in fact they were recorded as fighting half naked. the most likely costume would have been loose white trousers or breeches, with crossbelt equipment over bare chests." they were given muskets but in close combat preferred to use hatchets. Could be used as an irregular skirmishing force.
Throughout this book I've been surprised at jsut how often African mercenaries and slaves were used in combat in india, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and French all used African soldiers in their empires.
Indian princes used African mercenaries too
I've only planed one auxilaries unit for French, that could be Cafres, and Bussy's "hussars" as an auxilary cavalry unit.
The former could look like musketman in those pictures : Painted Hindus
Maybe should I work later on a Mod for India (Maratha, Mughal, etc.).
But my "roadmap" is already overloaded for near future...
I love the number 3 and the two last ones!![]()
The units look good, but it when I load custom battle with France it crashes, I use DMUC and donwloaded the appropriate file. Also I tried running as administrator for steam but it brings me to the steam account page.
Does it crash whith any unit you use or only with particular unit ?
The "Grenadiers de France" unit can crash the game if not run as administrator.
The grenadier officer lod4 model (use when unit is far from camera) disappear in game and it crash the game when game load models if it is not run as administrator.
I'm not sure what unit triggers it, I tried not using the grenadier but it still crashed. I have other unit mods that I'm thinking may cause conflict. I use the user script in DMUC to run your mod and I've checked over and over and I seem to have it spelled right.
Also, are the unit cards done yet, I only have blank slots which say either militia, Grenadier or elite line infantry.
Icons and info icons (unit cards ?) work fine for each units (you can see it in pictures I've add to the first post of this thread) with vanilla pack.
I didn't write unit description yet, I simply use vanilla ones.
I didn't try DMUC, this pack is a courtesy from Lordsith.
I'll try the Vanilla pack in DMUC and see what happens, I know they wont have the same stats, but I'll just try.
What I meant by unit cards is the icon you select to pick the unit you want for the custom battle
If you want to play DMUC version you should :
1) Download vanila Nec Pluribus Impar beta v1.0 and Nec Pluribus Impar for DMUC beta v1.0.
2) Extract both files to Empire's data
3) Add 2 lines in Empire's user script, but DMUC version must be on first place of the list

thanks guys, that makes sense as the vanila version worked in DMUC but had smaller unit size of course. Will do this tonight
Oh and Wangrin, these units are excellent, some of the best
WIP : FRENCH DRAGOON
WIP : ROYAL ITALIEN and ROYAL ECOSSAIS (ACMILAN88)
This has to be one of the best 18th century mods for Empire.
I absolutely love the new models you guys made and textured! They really look like fine 18th century gentlemen soldiers, not like those hobo's from vanilla.
Sorry if I already asked this question but I forgot. You guys are working with the seven years war mod right?![]()
Thanks
ACMilan88 lead the new Seven Years War Mod, based on SpongeMod.
Flikitos and I will help him.
First, all units from NPI should be add to SYW Mod.
Second, I will try to find time to help ACMilan88 with some models that need modifications.
ACMilan88 did a great job with SYW mod and he create a guide that tell what units need modeling : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MSJVDMME
He really deserve +Rep and help
Of course I will have more time when all NPI models will be done, but I doubt I will be able to finish them before late september / early october.
I have to create :
- FR_CAV_DRAOFF (dragoon officer, modification based on FR_CAV_DRA)
- FR_CAV_DRAVOL2 ("Legion Royale"'s dragoons, minor modification based on FR_INFLIGHT2)
- FR_CAV_DRAVOL3 ("Volontaires de Clermont Prince"'s dragoons, minor modification but need a new helmet)
- FR_CAV_DRACAN ("Corps de cavalerie", minor modification based on FR_CAV_DRA)
- FR_CAV_GUARDGREN ("Grenadiers à cheval", minor modification based on FR_CAV_GUARD but need a new hat)
- FR_CAV_MUS2 (Royal-Allemand's musician, minor modification based on FR_MUS1)
- FR_CAV_MUS3 ("Grenadiers à cheval"'s musician, minor modification based on FR_MUS1)
- FR_INFLIGHT3 ("Volontaire de Clermont Prince"'s infantry, minor modification, based on FR_CAV_DRA03)
- FR_CAV_HUSIND (Bussy's light cavalry, heavy modified model)
- FR_AUX_IND2 (Bussy's Cafres, heavy modified model)
- FR_AUX_IND3 (Indian allies infantry, heavy modified model)
An heavy modified model took approximatively 1 week.
A minor modification can took 1 hour to 1-2 days).
So, it's a big amout of work![]()
Awesome models Wangrin! Have I to say that I will deserve you a +rep for your great work?![]()
