    The Hungarian domination of Europe

    Chapter I.

    Introduction
We are in the early January of 1805. The Hungarian nation is small yet. They have only one big city: Buda-Pest. The monarch is called Kovács I. Buda-Pest and 3 small cities, Szeged, Csongrád and Debrecen, brings 2000 funds to the treasury.

The kingdom has no soldiers. The neighbours are: Austria, Prussia, Poland, Romania and the Ottoman Empire.

    First Measures
The monarch has decided to make good relations with the neighbours, to gain income from trade and make some alliances, because this nation can’t hold war against multiple factions. The great nations demanded money for the trade with them, so the king spent 460 gold, but after that the income increased to 3000.
The next step was building farms, stables, manufactures, roads and barracks. And because the presence of ottomans at the borders seemed to be a menace, the king has ordered his officers to start recruiting an army.
In late January, the population slightly decreased. Therefore the monarch has reduced the taxes.

Meanwhile a messenger has bought a new: Russia has attacked the Ottoman Empire. That means a good chance to weak the rule of the Ottoman Empire in Europe.

In the next week, a messenger arrived too, bringing an offer from Aleksander I, the monarch of Poland. It contained that they offer 920 gold coins for a military alliance, and Kovács has accepted it with great pleasure.

In February, the kingdom has finished it’s first army: 2 units of Line Infantry.
The first defence measure was to build a Star Fort around Buda-Pest, the capital of kingdom. With this, Hungary will be able to repel incoming attacks and resist for longer. However, it took almost all of the money from the treasury.
In early March, the army has grown even bigger, with another 2 new units of Line Infantry. On the economy side, the kingdom has done building basic roads and farms.

    And then barracks:

In April, Austria has suddenly cancelled the trade agreement, but the king wasn’t impressed and negotiated with them until they finally re-agreed the trade. But this means that Austria isn’t trustworthy.

Kovács has sent his greatest and skillful captain, Székely Koppány, with the small but strong army of Hungary, to take the Balkans from the Ottomans.

    Chapter 2
    Conquering of the Balkans

In the late april of 1805, Székely Koppány has besieged the city of Belgrade, with 6 line infantry and 1 militia battalions.
They met with a huge civil resistance.

    Battle of Belgrade
Firstly, Székely Koppány has made his army a long line.

He has ordered the army to run, because the ottomans were firing with their 18-lber artillery.

Right before they have reached the ottomans' fire-zone, Koppány has stopped them.

Since the most of the ottomans were close combat units, they have entered Koppány fire-zone, in the hope of reaching the Hungarians. But they had no chance, the Hungarians have shot them down without exception.

After the defeat of first wave of the Turks, Koppány has ordered his army to press on, and make an U formation around the remaining Janissaries.

They had some Siphais which wanted to attack from behind, but after the Hungarian militias' fire, they retreated.

The Hungarians were just trying to close in the ottoman army as much as possible, leaving them no place to retreat. The ottomans couldn’t hold this fire, so their units have started to retreat. In a short time, their whole army was running like rabbits.

Meshur Esat has been defeated! Belgrade has fallen to Koppány's hands. After a peacefully occupying he sent a messenger to king Kovács, to tell him the good news.

After that, Kovács has requested trade rights with Greece, and they have accepted it. In the same week, a Romanian messenger has arrived and bought an offer: military alliance. Romania were so happy about the weaking of the ottomans.
King Kovács has ordered Székely Koppány to hold the city of Belgrade and finish the riots. Also, supply centre and roads have been started to build. Soon, he ordered to recruit even more troops, because the ottomans were enough weak to take Rumelia.

In early July, the stables in Csongrád finally reached it’s maximum level.

With this, the Hussars will be much cheaper. Also, king Kovács has realised that they will need at least one intellectual centre to research technologies and be able to hold war against more advanced empires. This idea has also confirmed that Hungary really needs Rumelia, because there is an university in Sofia.

In the late July of 1805, Koppány were ready with his army to march towards to Istambul. He has decided to attack Rumelia from it’s Western side, so he doesn’t have to bother the Romanians with his passing army.

    Chapter 3.
    The fall of Istanbul

In late July of 1805, while general Székely Koppány was on his way to take Istanbul, he met with Turkish diplomats, because the Turks have noticed the upcoming danger. They were demanding gold for peace. But Koppány had order from the king, to don’t accept any of the Turk’s diplomatical demands or offers.
On the other side, king Kovács I has successfully made an alliance with Greece. He did this because he didn’t want a second enemy until the Turks are defeated.
In early August the Hungarian troops with the lead of Koppány have passed the border of Rumelia. Selim I, the sultan of the ottomans, has sent a diplomat again, demanding 3000 gold and breaking trade with Romania. Of course, Koppány didn’t accept this neither

    First battle of Rumelia
Koppány has met with a small resistance at the bridge of Evros river. Koppány has just wanted to scare them away with this big army, but they were so brave, and didn’t want to flee.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

So, Koppány has surrounded the bridge’s crossing with his army. When the enemy have crossed it, the Hungarians have fired hundreds of bullets in the same time. At the second wave of shooting, the Turks had only a few men left, and surrendered.
After this little victory of Koppány, he marched with his army until he has spotted the towers of Istanbul at the horizon.
It’s easy to see that the Turks are scared. They sent an agent to stop Koppány, but it wasn’t enough skillfull, so he managed only to escape. At last, Koppány has reached the walls of Istanbul.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Second battle of Rumelia: the fall of Istanbul

The defender’s army was very large. Also, the wind was very strong and blew the sand and dust into the Hungarian soldiers' eyes. The nature was with the Turks.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The half of the ottomans' army was waiting in a nearby forest, the other half in the streets and buildings of a small town. Koppány had used again his surrounding strategy. Firstly, he moved both right and left flanks to attack, while the centre was waiting until the enemy flanks are defeated. When the Hungarian flanks have routed the Turkish flanks, started to surround the remaining forces.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The centre has started to move too. The remaining Turkish centre has found itself in a fire circle. The Hungarians had massacred them and won the battle. Istanbul has fallen!

    Chapter 4.
    Part 1: Expansion to Iasi

After taking Istanbul, King Kovács has decided to conquer even more regions. Also, he ordered the newly captured universities to start research civil technologies: Public Schooling and National Debt.
Since he needs the army of Székely Koppány to continue conquering, the only way to keep order in the rioting Istanbul is to recruit militias.
At last, Hungary can builds its first artillery in Istanbul.
In November, both of the universities have finished their tasks.

Also, the Hungarian kingdom has recruited it’s first sloops.
Koppány's victorious army started its way to Iaşi on land and sea.

In late December, the kingdom has built its first metalled roads.

    Battle of Iasi
Koppány used the same proved strategy: surround the centre of the enemy army. But in this battle a great part of his army had to fight in a nearby town.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The left flank had to fight in forest, again.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The enemy made a strategic error: brought its cannons into the town. They won't be able to shoot between the walls of the buildings. They wasted their only technical advantage. But the Turks had cavalry, and the Hungarians not. Those Turkish hussars have made a lot of loss.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Turkish cannons were one of the first which have been defeated by the Hungarians.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Also, by taking buildings of the town, the Hungarians made an advantage in the town.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

In the centre of the front, the pressing of enemy was very strong. Koppány couldn't move the centre so he had to wait until the flanks' victory.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The resistance was futile in the town: the Turkish flank has been completely defeated. There were no more obstacles between the right flank and the remaining Turkish central force.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The death-ring around the Turks has been closed.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Turkish general Isa Sirri and all of his men has lost Iasi, to the hands of Hungary.

    Part 2: War with Austria

In January of 1806, surprise: both Russia and Austria declared war against Hungary.
However, they have only 4 regions, those regions territory is very big and because this, the great empires were envy. But Hungary didn't have enough army to defend itself. King Kovács has realized that the primary concern is to start recruiting army. Because of this, Budapest, Belgrade and Istanbul started to recruit armies.
Finally in February, Orosz Magdolna has taken the lead of the Army of Istanbul, and marched to Transylvania.

    Battle of Klausenburg
Orosz Magdolna met with a huge Austrian army, led by Joseph Philliph Vukassovich. She had much smaller army than the Austrians, but stronger. She knew she must win this battle, otherwise the nearly in bankrupt Hungary will be destroyed.
Her strategy was simple: hold the right flank and the centre, while the left flank tries to surround the Austrians. The right flank was composed only by militias, and she knew that they can't hold for too much time. She had to finish the Austrian main force as soon as possible, to help out the right flank. The Austrians had only infantry, like the Hungarians.
Firstly, Magdolna made a long line, as long as she could. Then she ordered her men to march forward but stop before entering the Austrian fire zone. Then she ordered the right flank to take position in a nearly town.
She put them to strategic positions, so they can hold for more time.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Since they started to fire the Austrians in that town, the whole army of them started to come closer and attack. After a long time of shooting, she started the outflanking with the left flank.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The left flank has killed every Austrians in its way, and successfully routed the centre. The enemy general has retreated to the nearby town, and set up defensive position with some fusiliers.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

But Magdolna ordered to surround the town and attack them from all sides.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Unfortunately, the Hungarians didn't have any ammunitions left. They had to charge. The Austrians couldn’t choose where to fire, since there were Hungarians every side. The Hungarians have reached them and killed all of them.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Klausenburg has fallen.
This was the answer of Hungary for the war...

    CHAPTER 5.
    PART I.
    EXPANSION TO RUSSIA

After the victory in Transylvania, King Kovács looked around the empire for dangers. On the west, Vienna was very close to Buda-Pest, and also very strong. More soldiers are needed to take it, but the current money is not enough.
To the east, the situation is better. The neighbouring Kamenets Podolsky is not as much strong as Vienna, and maybe it’s possible to take it. The closest army was the the army of Iasi. But if it leaves the city, they have to recruit new militias to keep the order. In the next week, the militias were ready, and the army started to move to Russia with the leading of Székely Koppány.

    Battle of Kamenets Podolsky
The Russian force was leaded by Mikhail Kutusov, one of the best Russian generals. And that was visible from the start! The enemy didn't wait, but attack, however Koppány was the one who besieged them. The Russians were coming closer and closer, very fastly, and soon the Hungarian right flank has been reached by Russians. Since the Russians were concentrating on the Hungarian right flank, they left their cannons unguarded.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Hungarian left flank has destroyed them, while the centre tried to save the right flank.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

There were a small town behind the Russians, and the Hungarian left flank has occupied it and shot the Russians' back out there.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Russian centre couldn't hold the Hungarian surrounding, and started to flee. Then, the Hungarians main force attacked the remaining Russians and successfully routed them.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Kutusov didn’t survive the battle. He was the one of the last resisting forces, which have been killed by the Hungarians.
By this vitctory, Koppány has proved again that Hungary is worthy enough to be the one of the empires in Europe.

    PART II.
    CAMPAIGN OF GALICIA

After the victory of Kamenets Podolsky, the Russians weren’t meaning any menace, for the moment. Hungary’s income went high. King Kovács has ordered Koppány to recruit new units and march forward to Galicia, since it was under Austrian control and if they lose it, the only Austrian army which is menace would be the army of Vienna.
The strategy was simple: defeat every Austrian force around Lemberg, then take it.
The first stop was at a river, near Ternopil.

    First battle of Ternopil

Koppány has used the same strategy he used near Istanbul: surround the bridge crossing and wait the Austrians to come. The Austrians tried to get past the river as fast as possible, but Koppány and his army were faster.
The Austrians ran into a trap: Hungarians were everywhere!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

But they were brave enough to not run away but charge at the enemy. Their general realized that they can’t defeat the Hungarians with just charge & fire, but if the whole Austrian army attacks the weakest point of the enemy, they can break up the Hungarian surrounding.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

But Koppány weren’t a starter! He saw their tactic just in time. Quickly ordered the spare forces to reinforce the right flank, which were the weakest point of the army. After all, when the Austrians were on the other side of the river, Koppány sent the other forces to attack the back of the Austrians.

That was too much for the Austrian army, they started to run, however their general was still alive and fighting. Those were very lucky who could escape, because Koppány left them no space to leave.

Koppány has achieved his first victory in Galicia and he hopes not the last one. He knew there will be a huge battle when the army of Lemberg will come out to attack him. He waited two days at Ternopil and finally, in the third day, his scouts reported a huge Austrian army coming. Koppány had time to set up this army on a very small hill and let the enemy to attack from the town.

    Second battle of Ternopil

The Austrians had a lot of cavalry this time on both right and left flanks. Koppány wanted to make an outflanking with his left flank, so he joined to it, while leaving the other part to be led by Katona Mátyás. That was an almost fatal mistake. There were too many Austrian cavalry and surrounded Koppány’s flank.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Koppány has been wounded and if Mátyás doesn’t send help, Koppány would die with that flank. Fortunately, after the defeat of the Austrian cavalry, Mátyás could continue the flanking, while Koppány was in the hands of some soldiers what knew anything about healing.
The outflanking manoeuvre was successfull: Mátyás has routed the Austrians when they saw the trap.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

After the battle, Koppány has promoted Katona Mátyás to a general, and sent him to defeat the last Austrian army before the siege of Lemberg. The battle took place in a valley, where Mátyás couldn't outflank them.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

He had to attack and this was not a big problem, since he had much bigger army. Before he entered the valley, he saw something. Austrians tried to make a trap: a unit of cavalry, almost slaughtered all of his army. Fortunately, he had enough time to make a square formation and repel them.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Then he marched into the valley and shot down the Austrians.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Now, the army of Koppány could march towards to besiege Lemberg. He didn’t meet with any resistance in his way, he didn’t expect anything. He just marched to take the almost empty Lemberg city. When he was only 2 miles far from it, he sent a messenger to them, demanding surrender. When the messenger came back, he reported that the Austrians didn’t accept the demand. Koppány was wondering how brave are the citizens, because he didn’t know that a big army were just in waiting to Koppány’s arrival.
Koppány has ordered his army to march forward to Lemberg and take it. On half way he met with that hiding Austrian force…

    Battle of Lemberg

Koppány was surprised by that army, but he knew what to do in an event like this. He quickly made a long line of his army and started to slowly march closer. Since his men were all veterans, he didn’t have to use any outflanking strategy now. He wanted to sweep them away with an unbreakable line of his army.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

When Koppány almost reached the enemy’s fire zone, he stopped his army and started to attack with one unit on the left flank. This made the Austrians to come closer and attack the central force of Koppány. But the first bullets were fired by the Hungarians, which was a very big advantage in this battle.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Austrians were shooting courageously, but soon they realized that the battle is lost for them. Some units left, while the others were still shooting, because they were near the Austrian captain. Koppány now started the surround, since the enemy line broke and it was easy to sweep away the remaining resistance. After the death of the Austrian captain, there were no more resistance left. Koppány marched into Lemberg and by the glory of Hungary he pinned up the flag of Hungary to the tallest building of Lemberg.

    CHAPTER 6.
    Expanding into Russia

After the success in Galicia, king Kovács’s attention turned again to Russia. He ordered Koppány to make a new army and march to Kiev. He followed the king’s order and reached Kiev in three days. When he arrived, he saw that Kiev has huge fortifications, but those couldn't stop Koppány and his army. He was the general who conquered the Ottomans, Galicia and defeated the famous general Kutusov.
Koppány besieged and took the city without huge loss and sent a messenger to king Kovács to tell him that Kiev’s towers will wear the Hungarian flag from now. After Kiev’s fall, there were a short peace for some months. Meanwhile, Koppány retrained his army and Kovács ordered to recruit a new army in Kamenets Podolsky, while he keeps his half of his attention on Vienna. Austria is gathering forces and Kovács ordered back some units from Transylvania and started recruiting in Belgrade.
Since Hungary can’t hold an open war against Vienna, the only way is to continue the conquering of Russia. When the retrain of Koppány’s army were ready, he moved forward to Belgorod. He didn’t meet with any resistance on his route. But in the city a large army were garrisoned…

    Battle of Belgorod
The Russian army, with the leading of Mikahil Bure, were waiting in a long line near the city. Koppány made a long line too, and started marching closer.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

When he almost reached them, the Russian left flank and centre started to attack the opposing Hungarians, while their right flank held distance from the Hungarians. But the Hungarians followed them and by this move the Russians were almost surrounded. Koppány didn’t care why the Russians did this tactic movement, but he knew that he turned their tactic into a surrounding.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Russian cavalry were trying to save their fellow countrymen, but without success: they couldn’t survive the Hungarian square formations.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Also, Mikahil died too in the first charge, so the remaining Russians started to flee.
Koppány has annexed Belgorod to the Hungarian kingdom.

After the victory of Belgorod, Hungary grew in power. The first result was that the Austrians offered peace treaty and king Kovács gladly accepted it.
The campaign in Russia didn't end yet. Szilágyi Pál has united an army in Kamenets Podolsky, and marched to Minsk and successfully captured it and annexed to Hungary.

After a small time, Szilágyi Pál sent a request to king Kovács, asking for permission to take Vilnius. It was a very long distance between Minsk and Budapest, but at last, Pál has received the king’s answer:

Alright, soldier. You done well in Belarus. You can head to Lithuania. God may be with you and your army!
    -Kovács I., King of Hungary

Pál alerted his army to get ready, they are going to march to Vilnius…
Vilnius were very close to Minsk, so they reached it soon and could lay a siege. With courageous fight and Pál’s strategic skills, the Hungarian forces defeated the Russian garrison and occupied the city.
Pál quickly made trade with Courland and by that Hungary’s income grown very well.
Kovács were very happy about Hungary’s achievements and ordered to make a big army in Kiev. But before further conquering, Pál had a little work: clear Grodno from a small Russian army. Pál took 400 of his men and marched to Grodno…

    Battle of Grodno
Pál had a little much soldiers, so he realized that a surround is possible and also a good idea. He marched closer and put the right flank behind a stone fence.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

When the Russians came closer, they get fire from every side, excluding their back.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

They couldn’t resist and started to withdraw. Pál didn’t want to pursue them, he knew they have nowhere to run, and next time he will catch them.

    Chapter 7.
    Part 1.
    Diplomatic measures

After taking big pieces from Russia, the Hungarian forces were scattered all over the new regions. They were just enough to keep up town happinesses, but not enough for another attack: King Kovács I, the mighty ruler of the former small and weak country, looking through the heroic battles of his beloved country, spotted a mistake: Hungary’s economy was too poor and the hardly conquered regions were empty and nearly useless. The income was very low. It was the consequence of wars and killing.
Sadly, this problem was visible for the neighbouring factions too. It was just one month after Hungary stopped the Russian pressure, Austria declared war on Hungary. King Kovács knew, he must finish with Russia first, then attack Austria and Prussia with every forces. But this plan seemed impossible. Every time he defeated Russian forces, Austria trained more men.
Hungary’s allies were too small to help. King Kovács has started to search for suitable allies. He sent diplomats to Napoleon, emperor of France, to Charles Emanuel I., king of Savoy, and to Carlos IV., ruler of Spain. All of them, except Spain, has accepted the request and hopefully will help against Austria.
His spies reported that the current army in Zagreb can’t leave the city, otherwise the Croatians would revolt. Buda-Pest still has to deal with 2 huge Austrian armies, but hopefully 1 will stay in Vienna.
King Kovács somewhat feeling more safely, ordered to recruit an army in Kiev to attack Smolensk. This recruit will take so long time, because Hungary needs to spend on economy and fortifications.
In the next month - 1806 October - the fortune smiled on Hungary. Two diplomats have arrived and the first came from Napoleon, offering technical upgrades for military if Kovács I. joins the war against Hessen. Kovács I. accepted the offer, because Hessen is too far away to do anything against Hungary. The second dropped a bag of gold to the floor between the throne of King Kovács I. and himself. He said, using Hungarian language with high German accent:
    - Ze kaisar demands peaze for ze 1000 gold in that bag, Herr Kovács!
    - Where do you come from? - said Kovács.
    - Österreich, Herr König.
    - Tell to your lord that I gladly take these golds for our peace - and ordered the diplomats to leave.
Kovács stayed alone with the bag in his room thinking: Austria’s peaces and trades usually don’t stay for long times, so keeping armies in Buda-Pest is needed. However, there is one less enemy at the moment.

“Knock-knock”, this sound drove away Kovács' dreams, and he said:
    - Come in!
The foreign person was a panting messenger:
    - Sir, I bring news from Lithuania. A huge Prussian army was heading to Vilnius, but your brave general Szilágyi Pál stopped it. Me, as his personal messenger, I was near him in the battle, and wrote a report on the way here… Please, lord, listen to it, it shows our beloved country’s greatness…
    - Tell me your report, brave soldier!

    Battle of Vilnius
    1806 late October

Everything happened on a rainy afternoon. We didn’t know what danger threatens us. Around 4 o’clock some scouts reported a huge army approaching. They were moving very slowly, possibly have many artillery and line infantry. We had half an hour to arm our army then form a line outside the walls.

Our men were fast enough, we did count one thousand and four hundred line-infantry and three hundred armed citizens. Soon we spotted a blue and grey clothed army carrying the Prussian flag. We didn’t have to wait for so long: their infantry - leaving the cannons almost alone - started to approach so fast. Szilágyi Pál, our great general has placed the armed citizens to the right flank. Pál deployed the army in a long line. He started to use his old strategy: just fire them with as much as possible, while the flanks will try to surround the enemy.

The Prussian hussars were on the opposite side of the Hungarian armed citizenry. Since they can’t form square, Pál thought that the enemy hussars will do large casualties. Luckily there were a lot of trees between them, so when the hussars entered there, Pál quickly reformed the line to make a trap. When the hussars ran outside of the grove, half of them routed when saw a sea of enemies shooting at them. The remaining hussars still charged, but none of them reached the Hungarian line.

Their army was bigger but cheaper armed and trained. Pál’s army swept them away without losing too many men. But both sides were persistent. The Prussian flanks were dying too fast. Pál told me that from this point the battle isn’t a battle, but a massacre. When most of the enemies were fleeing, he ordered to make charge.

After this, I didn’t follow the units, just stayed behind with Pál and his personal unit. I saw that our men rout every Prussian, except the general which suicides: charges into our men hoping to kill as many as possible. Our men’s celebration meant that he is killed and no more Prussian resistance is existing.

    - After the battle, - continued the messenger - Pál told me to bring the good news to you, majesty. On the way here I saw burned stables; maybe those remaining Russians from the first battle sacked it.
    - Russians? - asked King Kovács. - How?
    - My lord, Pál couldn’t catch them because they ran away and maybe were hiding in the forests.

    - Okay, thanks for your report. Here is 4 gold, take it and tell to Pál that he proved great braveness, so he gets promotion. Tell him to prepare, we will need every army against Moscow. Székely Koppány is waiting for Smolensk’s fall to advance.

After a long break, don't worry, I haven't forgotten you, if anyone still follows this

    Part 2
    of Chapter 7.

Although, the battle of Vilnius has wiped out the Prussian main force, many of them survived and started looting. One Russian force, which were there before the battle, has looted a stable.
Szilágyi Pál’s first job was to finish them off. Pál took 200 men and started to march towards the Stables of Lida. On half way he met the Russians: they were enjoying the loot and camping near a forest. However, they had scouts which reported Pál’s incoming army. They used the stolen horses and equipment to prepare a cavalry unit for their leader. They didn’t run. They were brave or stupid, who knows? They were letting Pál’s regiment come close, just without being in the fire-zone. Then they advanced and started to fire. Their 100 men vs. 200 Hungarians had no chance. They all died and no one survived.
    - This is the destiny of our enemies – said Pál. – Now finish off the remaining Prussians!
    – Sir, our men are too tired! – said the co-leader of the unit.
    – By this tiny fight? Oh, right, I’ll send a messenger to the city to kill them.
The messenger arrived to Vilnius and the current leader, Molnár Géza has prepared an army of 300 men and attacked the Prussian looters. They were so less, Géza killed all of them without casualties.
Finally peace in the empire is restored. But the attacking of Russia still couldn’t be started. King Kovács I. has to recruit an army in Galicia, since he lost a valuable ally: Poland. In October 1806, a huge Prussian army attacked and captured Warsaw, and killed the resisting Polish forces, so an attack can be made anytime by the Prussians.

But one month later, in November 1806, a French diplomat arrived and told to King Kovács that Poland has revolted successfully, and Poland is independent again. Kovács sent a messenger to make alliance and trade rights with the newly revolted Polish state. Also, the French diplomat offered 2 technologies for industry if Hungary attacks Austria. Since Budapest is fortified enough and has 2000 men garrisoned, Kovács I. has accepted the offer. Now he has to decide what to do: take Vienna or Moscow first? After long discussing with the advisors, the answer was to take Moscow and finish Russia, but not immediately, better support the Austrian-Hungarian borders, which means Belgrade needs more men, and then recruit can continue in Kiev.

The North Austrian-Hungarian border in early December of 1806:

Anyone who attacks the other will loose. Both sides are making bigger and bigger armies.
Prussian and Russian forces are wandering on Hungary’s lands, burning building in their way. Szalay Margit with her army in Galicia has encountered a Prussian army…
The Prussians were camping on a hill, while their cannons were firing at Margit’s army. Margit and her troops marched close to them and killed many of them, leaving only some survivors. Margit headed back to a supply port and she will advance only when winter is over, since the survivors are too weak to do any damage and useless to waste men in the attrition for them.

In late February of 1807, France joined war against Prussia and gave more technologies. Finally, Hungary can make factories. King Kovács will never forget how much Napoléon helped the Hungarian empire. Also, Kovács is gathering every scientists to Rumelia, where are the universities.

In the same month, a Russian army has besieged Minsk, but Vargha Krisztina stopped them with militias and armed citizenry.

In May 1807, Vargha Krisztina and Bakoss Áron decided to attack a Russian army which just passed the border. Bakoss Áron hided in the city of Vitebsk with 3 regiments of militias and Vargha Krisztina leaded the main force to attack when Mikhail Kutusov came close to Vitebsk with his army.
Krisztina troops formed a line and advanced. In the same time Áron’s reinforcements moved into a nearby forest behind the Russians, without being noticed.

In the same week, a Prussian army has besieged Vilnius, but Szilágyi Pál has helped the defending Molnár Géza. The Prussians were outnumbering the Hungarians, but Szilágyi Pál’s perfect leading and strategic tactics made a huge advantage. Both nations fought bravely, but not only the braveness decided the winner.

The Prussians got surrounded, then a huge push by all sides made them flee, and Pál let some of them run and spread the might of Szilágyi Pál’s veteran regiments.

    A military reform

In the late summer of 1807 King Kovács I. has chosen new ministers. They decided to set back the taxes to low because the hard part of the wars has passed. They also ordered to start recruiting different units across the empire, and not just line infantry.

A week after they recruited the first dragoons in Lemberg, the Coalition has attacked Hungary from everywhere. 4 full armies under the leading of Johann Bach have besieged Budapest, which had 10 units of line infantry. Also, 2 sabotages totally destroyed Budapest’s economy’s, and killed 2 scientists who were going to Rumelia.

A huge Prussian army besieged Lemberg, and Russia, after declaring war and cancelling trade has marched to Belgorod with a powerful army.

Will Hungary be saved? Will the allies help or they have to fight alone? The next part will tell you if Hungary survives or dies and its land becomes divided between the Coalition…
