Hehe i agree with you, but is why i post stuff on here right ?
So that people can check it out , and ultimatelly <some> of the provided material would end up being used in the mod as a resurce.

Edit: actually keep the constructive criticism coming np !

Btw, was just listening to an album called Chakruk of Kayno Yesno Slonce, since I had rather forgotten them, and noticed they'd actually fit quite well, if you want to use ambient tracks. One problem is that they occasionally do use modern instruments to accentuate the ambient feeling though. Anyway, here are two albums of theirs, if you're interested (of course, it's still another matter whether they're copyrighted or not, but I'm not sure myself, considering some of their songs include parts of tracks from Isihia (considering they share band members, I guess)): Chakruk parts 1 and 2 (2004), Elohim neva senzu (2007).

    "Elohim neva senzu"

Sounds like Jewish stuff to me, considering Elohim is Hebrew for God.

    well not ecxactly.....

it's confusing: the word is used in the Bible for describing God, other pagan gods, spirits, angels, judges, sons of God.....it's very ambiguous and frustrating.....

For God (and one occasion for Pagan gods) I knew, but didn't know about "spirits, angels" and especially "judges". Interesting...
Anyway, it's Hebrew. Don't know what "neva senzu" means. And the music itself is quite fine, though the Chakruk album is more fitting in general.

heh ... yes 'elohim' is a jewish word...
However lets be very aware that due to it's relatively vague meaning and certain individuals ability to manipulate, the word is used today in new-agey circles ... those that know what im talking about, good for them.

I will not argue the meaning of the songs, but having listened to them, I feel they are suitable as in-game background. They are quiet enough, neutral enough(for central Balkans at least), they are long so there wouldn't be too much songs in short time... Anyway, I think most of them should be used where appropriate.

TV Balkanika? The one which seems to show mostly Balkan pop/pop-folk/chalga and the likes?
Or is there some band with the same name?

I believe he meant Sanja Ilić & Balkanika. They are quite good. But little modern approach on old music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxpCzbKfzoM

I think that the old bulgarian folk song about tsar Ivan Shishman(Ot koga se zazorila) fits perfectly and should be included, even the lyrics of the song date back in the 15th century.
The problem is, that I find on youtube only the more march-like version, not that it is bad, but if someone finds a more folklore version of the song it would be great.(there is also a great rock version)

Since I can't code or model, and for now can be useful only in terms of art, history and discussions, I see no harm in discussing the sound.
