    Default Lord Hamilton's Unit Workshop

    NEW DL LINK (4/13/12)
Thanks to all who have posted new download links for this material following the Megaupload shutdown.

Here's a new mirror, posted by the mighty Mattaeus (+rep to him!):http://www.mediafire.com/?1e427dppfqknddv

    Original Post Hello again everyone,

After a brief hiatus from M2TW modding, I've decided to come back and start working on a new project for the SS community. Similar to my older project which was scrapped, I am looking to improve upon a number of the mod's units and bring them up to the same level as those in other wonderful mods out there (Rusichi, TATW, DoTS, TCG, etc.).

I plan on trying something new to release them however. Instead of creating a single mod with all the units in it, I will release each of the units individually, where they may be freely distributed among the community. They may be incorporated into any mod, and used by anyone. No permission needed, although a partial credit listing would be nice .

The major reason for this release strategy is twofold:

    1) The numerous sub-mods and SS release versions in use today makes it difficult to ensure that a larger scale mod will be compatible with many people's personal SS configurations. If I did this, I would only build this on SS 6.4 vanilla because that's what I'm currently using, which would make it incompatible for anyone using RR/RC, any of BG's wonderful submods, or those people still on older versions of SS...

    2) It would take a long time to develop a comprehensive unit overhaul mod, so by releasing units individually it allows me to get this stuff out the community quicker, where it can be enjoyed.

So yes, if you want to use any of these units you will have to do the work to actually put them into your game, but if you search for how to do it on the forums here you'll see it's pretty easy.

CREDITS: These units are largely based on work done by the Marka modding team from their EXCELLENT Rusichi: TW mod. Credit is also due to King Kong and DisgruntledGoat for their amazing TATW mod, which has also factored into these units as well. I also have been given permission to use parts of units form Broken Crescent 2.0 for future unit development. All credit for the unit models goes to these respective teams, I'm just tweaking the models a little to make them fit the region/period a little better. Textures made by yours truly.

HOW TO INSTALL: See the following tutorial: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=281344

Here's my version of Norman Knights. I will have skins for all three factions that use them: England, Sicily, and Jerusalem.

You forgot Disgruntled Goat and me in your credits. And next time please ask before using my models.

    KK,

I am very sorry, I just noticed that. The hoods from the levy units are based on hoods from one of your TATW units. I made these a while ago, must've forgotten where that piece came from...

I won't release them without permission. Sorry again.

Well, you done the unthinkable , making KK post in the SS board
1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....

I love those Norman Knights. Keep more units coming mate, I want to see what else you have cooking.

This looks cool, can you provide sample models.db files ? Also, it would be amazing if you did a remake of the terrible looking "Eastern spear militia" (the ones that have vanilla looking brown shirts and pants for 2 levels, then get chaimail)- they could use some changing !

I can definitely include the models.db entries that I'm using with any new releases. I'll post entries for the existing units tonight. Editing the models.db file is pretty easy though, if you look in the mod workshop section I think there's a pretty good tutorial...

As for the Eastern Spear militia unit, I'll look into it. I plan on releasing mostly Western European/Crusader units at first, as those are the factions I tend to play, but I'm always open to suggestions!

P.S. Thanks everyone for the interest so far! I plan on uploading the levy archer unit tonight, and possibly another unit as well!

I seem to remember you had some really epic Feudal Knight skins a while back; do you plan to release those at any point?
    Cheers!
