epic battle movie

well, ok, not quite epical, i shortened it to 4 minutes in length,
it's epical story: a roman legion meets big thracian army

i tried to make it dramatic by going through various stages of battle: skirmish, barbarian assault, roman maneuvrering and finally the chase of the defeated fleeing from battlefield..
..and it got some private ryan-like 1st person views!

IMO, cinimatics like this are the only thing RTR is good for.

Great film. How did you direct the battle and use the movie cam, get the close up shots, etc. at the same time?

This is simply the best movie i have seen made with thr RTW game, including all trailers i've seen and also the actual rome and BI movies

thanks mates!

this was work was done step by step:

playing (i played the same battle over and over in multiplayer to get good pictures),
setting cams (patience is all you need you to find nice angles and different camera styles, play around with FOV),
capturing (keep free plenty diskspace for the TGA files, if you want to have some useful footage for the editing part, name your sequences, backup your replay.cams for corrections),
editing (for better workflow convert your sequences to jpg, the rest is easy if you found some nice music you want to have it geared to)

Well downloaded large verson and it had sound with. BTW nice music

That movie was amazing.....so awesome i watched it 3 times after i downloaded it :laughing:

Only thing you could done better is take away the banners but thats just me

Hello guys - just to say how i love this move i registered on this forum ! Droteutis please make moore of this great stuff ! It was best movie i ever sow ! I was trying to make movies and i know how much effort it cost - a specially looking making all this camera movements in movie_editor ! Damn man you should be awarded with Oscar ! Make moore please m8 !

beautiful movie, better than the trailers and stuff for the game from the actual gamedevelopers. Keep it coming, I would love to see more.

Wow! From the magnificent set-up, through the tense actionscenes to those eagles flying over the battlefield at the end, this is top-quality!

Why don't you invite yourself to some modteams for making the pre-campaign faction cinematics?
