So should I get Minecraft?

I've been thinking about it long and hard, and have been "this close" to buying it several times.

Mainly I think I'd want it as something fun to do with a community, but I don't have loads of time, so I'd want to be able to play it casually. Is that possible? I read story after story of people having huge fights, and getting robbed, etc. So would I just be wasting my money?

there is a build server that doesnt have the fights or theives or stuff like that, and there are other servers/singleplayer

You can play casually. If you go off and build somewhere most people won't mess with you, except thieves.

Well, I tried SP, made a cave, a pool, and a patio, just to have them blown up.

Then I tried the build server, and tried developing a mountain top. I was doing well, and made a shelter, but when I left, even though it was daytime, there was like five monsters, I died, got lost, so I settled for a different mountain, that I dug out a bit, made a small cave, and started on a dock-ish thing.

Yeah, the build server has creeps. Kinda had to fight off if you don't have armor and weaponry. I was clearing Erthir of creeps earlier today.

Well I hollowed out the bottom of a mountain, got some torches, a crafting bench, doors, a chest, a sign, and even planted a tree that grew. It's pretty sweet.
