Why not give some 'automatic' rep. to the members of a winner mod? A special type of rep. maybe?

It's probably best to leave it as it is anyway. If we start awarding team members awards we raise the question of which contributors are "team members". Before you know it half of TWC will have a modding award.
Though perhaps the like of "Most Helpful/Responsive Team" could get it, as that sort of award is less content based and more based on the people actually running the mod.

Well, usually those who are considered contributers in a team are Scripters/Coders and Modelers (2D and 3D), and we already have those awards covered. And I agree - MY IBUR team is over 20 or so people, some of which are active, some not, some on and off. So it's very erm... difficult to award such members.

No, the teams for mods that won a category do not get an award, only those modders who win individual award category (or categories) get an award.
