    Default The War To End All Wars. – WWI IH (Aetius style)




    I got tired of waiting and frustrated with lack of progress and also rules that apply to some other era obviously. I just want to play a WWI game and opened this to get the ball rolling, I am ready to start, you can sign up here...

    Playable Factions:
    Central Powers

    Germany - cfmonkey45
    Austria Hungary - Dan the Man
    Ottoman Empire - Master Magic Mage
    Bulgaria-Kaitsar


    Entente

    United Kingdom -♔The Bean♔
    France- Blackwolf
    Russia- ♔Agamemnon♔
    Italy- Aetius (following history)
    Romania- (NPC unless rest are full)
    Serbia- (NPC unless rest are full)
    Belgium- (NPC unless rest are full)
    Portugal- (NPC unless rest are full)


    Military Rules


    These are the units you can build, every unit in the game takes 1 turn to build.
    Army

    Armies are the main focus of the game. They reside in provinces, and protect all the provinces they neighbor.



    In general, all armies are better at defending than attacking, with the relative ease of building fortifications on top of that later in the game attackers will gain many more casualties. Combined arms is the path to success, spamming any type of unit is poor form.

    Navy

    Naval units are now part of the game. Their main use is to conduct naval landings and blockades. 1 land unit is allowed to accompany 1 ship and land anywhere. However if you are landing in a friendly country, there is no limit to the amount of soldiers you land. (for example you can move as many guys as you want from England to France or Algeria to France as long as there is your or a friendly navy there) Blockades slowly chock the income of a country, to blockade a country you must have navies along all their coastline.
    Submarines are a new tool of war, they are not present on the map officially and can commerce raid a nation. Although not as devastating as a naval blockade, subs commerce raiding do have the same effect, albeit requires many submarines and has its own hidden risks….

    Cruisers can be assigned to seas to protect convoys to hunt down the subs.

    The Map and Movement


    The map is limited to the greater European region. There are two features on the map, and they are labeled differently.

    Armies: The Circle around the army is just to give you a general idea of its strength. The number inside are more specific, that is how much that army is worth.

    There are also navies. Navies comprise of Dreadnoughts and Cruisers. The former being able to destroy many many cruisers and is the future of naval warfare. The first number below the ship icon is the number of dreadnoughts in the navy, the second number is the amount of Cruisers in the navy.

    Movement

    This movement system represents weather and supplies. The first turn is Fall 1914.
    Germany -7 moves
    Austria 4 moves
    Ottomans – 4 moves
    Bulgaria – 3 moves

    UK – 6 moves
    Russia -6 moves
    France -4 moves
    Italy -3 moves
    Romania -3 moves
    Serbia -3 moves
    Portugal -4 moves

    You can decide how to distribute your movements. You can make one army/navy go far or all your armies/navies move a little bit.




    Economy Rules + Factions Starting forces


    Every province in the game makes points. You spend these points at the beginning of your turn. Different countries have different point value per province. German land for example make 3.25 points a turn, the most in the game. That is because Germany was very industrialized; these points have been carefully balanced against real production/military mobilization values to represent each country as accurately as possible without too much detail. As the game progresses socio-economic influences will decrease the amount of points you make. But for now, here are the details for each faction.

    You only get half income from conquered provinces.






    Government Policy


    To replace those cumbersome character things there is general government policy.
    Dissent just grows all the time because it’s a war and people are dying, it intensifies if you are losing, it intensifies if the people are different politics than the government and it intensifies if the government is authoritarian while they are at it.
    There are 3 scales. You may change only 1 scale by one point once per turn. They go from 1 to 10.
    (1)Democratic – Authoritarian(10) scale
    More Democratic - People will blame/love the government less for the problems/triumphs of the turn
    More Authoritarian People will blame/love the government more for the problems/triumphs of the turn

    (1)Political Left - Political Right(10)
    Political Left - Decrease econ output, decreases dissent
    Political Right Increases econ output, increases dissent

    Hawk Lobby - Dove Lobby
    Hawk Lobby - Increases military effectiveness and lowers dissent, if no territory has been lost yet. If territory is in the hands of the enemy, this increases dissent.
    Dove Lobby Decreases military effectiveness and increases dissent, if no territory has been lost yet. If territory is in the hands of the enemy, this decreases dissent.

    Gameplay goes like this, turns as fast as we want them to be
    1. Map of current world for the new turn is created
    2. I PM people requesting for their movements and giving them special choices (sometimes)
    3. Show results, everyone gets paid
    4. People buy new things
    5. Return to step 1

    Oh for the love of God...
    I shall have to think about this. I don't like the way it tears down Aggy's IH (I mean, come on, was that really necessary?), but I also like the way you plan to run this. In the meantime, I'd like to at least reserve Russia until further notice.

    I would like to play as France (Dan stole Russia), but still I do think this is a bit rude, and I wouldn't join except I want to play a WWI game.

    Game looks great, cool to see you have a ruleset all written out, and I appreciate that you've semi-reserved Italy for me

    but...

    I think I might have too much on my plate at the moment, and this game looks a bit more intensive than our usual IH fare. I'll have to think about joining for now.
